Abstract:
An ion exchange apparatus includes at least one fluid passage that extends between an inlet and an outlet for transporting a fluid having ions therein. At least one cartridge includes an ion exchange material and the cartridge has an ion removal rate of removing the ions from the fluid that varies in response to a concentration of the ions in the fluid.
Abstract:
A bioreactor is for processing a fluid stream. The bioreactor may include a bioreaction chamber for receiving the fluid stream therethrough, a pair of spaced apart gas header assemblies within the bioreaction chamber for coupling to first and second gases, a first plurality of hollow fiber membranes (HFMs) extending between the pair of gas header assemblies for introducing the first gas into the fluid stream within the bioreaction chamber, and a second plurality of HFMs extending between the pair of gas header assemblies for introducing the second gas into the fluid stream within the bioreaction chamber.
Abstract:
A carbon dioxide (CO2) removal system includes a first sorbent bed and a second sorbent bed. Each of the first and second sorbent beds has a molecular sieve sorbent for adsorbing or desorbing CO2. One of the sorbent beds adsorbs CO2 and the other of the sorbent beds desorbs CO2. The first and second sorbent beds are thermally connected to transfer heat between the sorbent beds.
Abstract:
The sublimation capability of a porous metal plate used in a sublimator is maintained by heating the porous metal plate at an elevated temperature in a flowing stream of oxygen for an extended period of time to form an oxidized surface. A short chain molecule, such as citric acid, is attached to the oxidized surface having multiple functional carboxylate groups and no hydrophobic tail.

A water-based remediation bed includes a container providing a fluid cavity. Organic, inorganic and biological remediation media are arranged in the cavity and are configured to permit a water-based fluid within the cavity to simultaneously flow through the media.
