    摘要: A method and system for initiating functions on an electronic device includes using a sensor to detect a pattern on a specially formatted surface. The pattern can comprise an arrangement of dots, a particular symbol printed on the surface, or a specific pattern written with an electronic reading device. Using the detected pattern, a corresponding predefined function stored in a memory is identified and performed by a processor/controller. The electronic device can include an electronic reading device that includes the sensor and the processor/controller or can include a device that is separate from the sensor. Similarly, the function can be stored in the electronic reading device, in the electronic device that performs the function, or in an external server. The specially formatted surface preferably comprises a paper having preprinted areas associated with particular functions and/or applications executable on the electronic device.

    摘要: An entire radio transceiver can be completely integrated into one IC chip. In order to integrate the IF filters on the chip, a heterodyne architecture with a low IF is used. A single, directly modulated VCO is used for both up-conversion during transmission, and down-conversion during reception. Bond-wires are used as resonators in the oscillator tank for the VCO. A TDD scheme is used in the air interface to eliminate cross-talk or leakage. A Gaussian-shaped binary FSK modulation scheme is used to provide a number of other implementation advantages.

    摘要: A position code is recorded by capturing a sequence of images while writing on the base with a user unit. The position code may be decoded to a sequence of absolute positions reflecting the movement of the user unit over the base. If the position code in any image is not sufficiently recorded, e.g. because it is obscured by other graphics on the base, the spatial relationship of the image to another image in the sequence is determined. If the position code in this other image in the image sequence is decodable to an absolute position, the absolute position of the image in which the position code is not decodable could nevertheless be determined by using the spatial relationship. In this way the movement of the user unit can be recorded even though the position code is obscured, which could be the case when the same printing ink is used for both the position code and other graphics on the base.
