摘要: An image forming apparatus comprises a thermal fixing apparatus having a heat generating member and heat-fixing an image on paper, a section for discriminating a using frequency of the image forming apparatus, and a section for controlling a fixing temperature having a first temperature control mode maintaining the temperature of the thermal fixing apparatus to be a first temperature at which the image can be fixed, a second temperature control mode maintaining the temperature of the thermal fixing apparatus to be a second temperature, which is lower than the first temperature by a predetermined temperature, and a third temperature control mode stopping current supply to a heat generating member of the thermal fixing apparatus. Moreover, the fixing temperature control section selects either the second control mode or the third control mode in accordance with an output of the using frequency discriminating section when a non-image forming operation period continues for a predetermined period of time while the fixing temperature control section is operating in the first temperature mode.

摘要: A head controller 2 reads out adjustment data from a ROM 3 immediately after a power-on operation. The adjustment data is prepared for adjusting unevenness of light emission from LEDs in a LED head 5. A buffer memory 4 stores the read adjustment data. The head controller 2 reads the adjustment data from the buffer memory 4 with high data transfer rate, and obtains bitmap data from a frame memory or the like (not shown). The head controller 2 sends the read bitmap data and the adjustment data to an anode driver 51. The head controller 2 sends a strobe signal to the anode driver 51 and a cathode driver 53. The anode driver 51 adjusts ampere of supplied currents (i.e. drive signals corresponding to the bitmap data) from the head controller 2, in accordance with the received adjustment data in response to the reception of the strobe signal. The adjusted drive signals are sent to LED array chips 52. At the same time, the cathode driver 53 selects one of the LED array chips 52 in accordance with the received strobe signal so that the LEDs emit even lights. The optical writing head driving device 1 performs the above operations repeatedly to sequentially emit lights from the LEDs chip by chip under time sharing control for 1 line writing. As a result, the bitmap data is written onto a photosensitive member evenly at a high speed.

摘要: In a counter apparatus for an image forming apparatus according to the present invention, which counts and manages the number of image forming operations, data which is ultimately written is retrieved from data stored in an EEPROM, and the retrieved data is set in a RAM counter as an initial value. The RAM counter performs a count-up operation for each printing operation for production of new data. The new data is written in the EEPROM for each production, so that a count value when a power source is turned off is held therein. In the EEPROM, a plurality of unit areas are continuously provided and are used as data write areas. The new data is sequentially written for each unit area. Thus, the number of write operations for the unit areas is decreased, so that the EEPROM which has a limited number of times of write access can constitute the counter apparatus together with the RAM counter.
