摘要: In a lagoon-based wastewater treatment process, reduction of total nitrogen in the product water is facilitated by including a denitrification process. In an initial phase of the overall process, raw wastewater is processed in a lagoon to reduce BOD5 and TSS. Nitrification occurs in the lagoon and/or in a distinct or separate nitrification reactor. At least a portion of product water that has been nitrified is mixed with a portion of raw, incoming wastewater, and the mixture is introduced into an anoxic region of the lagoon in a manner that promotes denitrification within the anoxic region of the lagoon.

摘要: The disclosed lagoon biological treatment system helps existing wastewater treatment facilities meet stricter discharge permits mandated by the EPA utilizing a facility's existing wastewater treatment infrastructure. Influent is pumped into and processed in an aerated or non-aerated lagoon system, thus initially treating the wastewater to remove BOD5 (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids) down to approximately 20-30 mg/L. Then the wastewater is transferred to and processed in a nitrification reactor that is designed to maintain a minimum water temperature needed to further treat the wastewater to stricter EPA standards. Wastewater may also be further processed in a denitrifying reactor if necessary to meet local requirement. Finally, effluent water is sent to a settling lagoon for final clarification prior to discharge.

摘要: A dual-action water aerator includes structure that generates fine, fizz-type bubbles and structure that generates larger, more roiling bubbles that cause circulation within a body of water in which the aerator is submerged. The disclosed embodiments include a ring-shaped hub with a central aperture, with a central tube extending axially from the aperture. A number of fine-bubble-producing members extend outwardly from the hub and may be attached to the hub using a twist-lock connection designed to facilitate rapid assembly and deployment of the aerator. An internal air chase extends circumferentially around the aperture. A portion of air supplied to the air chase flows into the fine-bubble-producing members and fizzes out through the members, and another portion of air that is supplied to the air chase flows into the central tube and bubbles up out of the tube in a roiling manner to cause circulation in the body of water.

摘要: The disclosed lagoon biological treatment system helps existing wastewater treatment facilities meet stricter discharge permits mandated by the EPA utilizing a facility's existing wastewater treatment infrastructure. Influent is pumped into and processed in an aerated or non-aerated lagoon system, thus initially treating the wastewater to reduce BODS (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids) to approximately 20-30 mg/L. Then the wastewater is transferred to and processed in a nitrification reactor, where sufficient nitrifying bacteria is present to reduce nitrogen levels to regulation-acceptable levels without needing to regulate temperature of the water in the nitrification reactor. Wastewater may also be further processed in a denitrifying reactor if necessary to meet local requirement. Post-nitrification polishing of the wastewater is foregone.

摘要: A wastewater treatment facility with aerators located on the bottom of a lagoon features a bundled group of air supply lines to supply air individually to each submerged aerator. The bundled group of air supply lines floats—and may additionally be supported by a surface-anchored tether line—at the surface of the lagoon, and the air supply lines are individually supplied with air from a manifold located by the side of the lagoon.

摘要: Fine-bubble-producing aeration units and large-bubble-producing (or other mechanical) mixing units are interspersed with each other in a given body of water to be treated. The two different types of units are independently controlled to independently regulate degrees of aeration and mixing in the given body of water.

摘要: An aerator for treating wastewater is configured to produce air bubbles to mix and circulate wastewater within a treatment facility. Additionally, the aerator is configured to inject additive into the wastewater at the same time as the air bubbles are being produced, so that roiling of the air bubbles and/or circulation induced by the air bubbles rising within the water column facilitates mixing of the additive with the wastewater.
