摘要： A flexible disk drive includes a magnetic head carriage, a linear motor for moving the carriage, and a carriage locking mechanism for locking the carriage in response to ejecting action of a flexible disk from the flexible disk drive. A lever unit has an ejecting lever and a locking lever. The ejecting lever is a part of an ejecting mechanism for ejecting the flexible disk from the flexible disk drive. The locking lever is disposed in the vicinity of the carriage, and locks the carriage from movement after the flexible disk is ejected from the flexible disk drive by the ejecting lever. The lever unit is made of non-magnetic material such as resin as one body.

A pump-fan drive unit is provided between the tank and the radiator. The fan and the pump are directly connected to a single motor so that they can be driven by the motor. The pump has a magnet rotor, and a rotor driver. The magnet rotor is accommodated in the tank so as to be rotatable. The rotor driver is fixedly provided in an end portion of an output shaft of the motor. The magnet rotor is magnetically driven to rotate by the rotor driver.

摘要： A high-density flexible disk drive capable of accessing a large-capacity flexible disk is provided with a large-capacity detecting switch. The large-capacity flexible disk has a case accommodating a magnetic disk medium, with the case being provided with a write protection hole and a single large-capacity identifier hole formed in a vicinity of the write protection hole for distinguishing the large-capacity flexible disk from a small-capacity and a medium-capacity flexible disk. The large-capacity detecting switch of the high-density flexible disk drive is provided at a position corresponding to the large-capacity identifier hole for detecting the large-capacity identifier hole when the large-capacity flexible disk is inserted into the high-density flexible disk drive. In a preferred embodiment, the large-capacity detecting switch is integrally formed in a single unit with a write control switch for detecting open and close states of the write protection hole.

A user can visually distinguish the high-density flexible disk drive from a normal-density dedicated flexible disk drive in which a color of a surface of a cover is identical with that of a surface of a body of a front panel. Thus, a large-capacity flexible disk can be correctly inserted into the high-density flexible disk drive without being erroneously inserted into the normal-density dedicated flexible disk drive.

摘要： The present invention aims at reducing the thickness of a floppy disk drive by minimizing a vertical movement of a floppy disk-retaining disk holder and reducing the height of a chassis. The disk holder is provided on both side surfaces of its rear end portion with support shafts, which are connected to the chassis so that the support shafts can be turned. The disk holder becomes pivotable around these support shafts as fulcrums, i.e., the front portion of the disk holder is turned vertically. The upper and lower magnetic heads are formed so that they can be engaged with and disengaged from the floppy disk in conjunction with a pivotal movement of the disk holder.

摘要： A disc drive includes a main body having a roughly box-shaped casing and a top plate which covers the upper side of the casing, a disc tray having a disc holding portion in which an optical disc is to be placed and being movable with respect to the main body through an opening formed on the front side of the main body, and a convex portion provided on the top plate so as to protrude inside the main body and having a shape that its horizontal cross-sectional area decreases gradually toward a tip thereof. The convex portion being positioned in a region of the top plate corresponding to the disc holding portion of the disc tray in a state that the disc tray is fully inserted into the main body. The disc drive may further includes a roughly arc-shaped ridge portion formed in the region of the top plate so as to protrude inside the main body. The ridge portion also has a shape that its horizontal cross-sectional area decreases gradually toward a tip thereof. According to the disc drive having the above structure, it is possible to obtain excellent recording and playback characteristics of the optical disc.

摘要： A disk device for playing back information recorded on an optical disk, includes a device body; a disk tray, moving in the device body between a charging position, into which the optical disk is charged, and a discharging position from which the optical disk is discharged; a chassis, provided in the device body; a turntable, moving between an ascending position and a descending position when the chassis is displaced, and the turntable on which the optical disk is set; and a disk clamper, pivotally arranged on an upper plate of the device body, and clamping the optical disk against the turntable when the turntable is moved to the ascending position. The disk clamper is arranged on the upper plate with a clearance therebetween so that the disk clamper is moved in all radial directions, and an amount of the clearance in a first direction, in which the disk tray moves from the discharging position to the charging position, is smaller than amounts of the clearance in the other directions.
