Abstract:
The present disclosure provides systems and techniques for directing light into one or more light beams which converge into an aggregate beam. In certain example embodiments, the present disclosure provides a reflector having one or more reflective curved surfaces for reflecting and focusing light from one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) into one or more light beams, which make up an aggregate light beam. In certain example embodiments, the reflective curved surfaces are paraboloid surfaces.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for making and using handheld data readers comprising one or more fluid lenses. One or more fluid lenses are provided to allow a handheld data reader to perform such operations as reading indicia, including such additional operations as zooming, reorienting a viewing direction, focusing, adjusting an optical axis, and correcting for the effects of motion such as hand jitter. The fluid lens or lenses can be operated for example by applying electrical signals to fluid lenses comprising a plurality of fluids including at least one that is conductive and at least one that is non-conductive.
Abstract:
These and other objects of the present invention are attained by apparatus for adjusting the position of a line of light in barcode space that includes a support frame having a rear housing containing a solid state imager and a pair of support arms extending forwardly from the front of the housing. An imaging lens is mounted between the arms for focusing an image of a target in barcode space upon the solid state imager along the optical axis of the imaging lens. Illuminating LEDs are mounted on either side of the imaging lens for illuminating the target. The illumination is passed through a pair of cylindrical lenses that are adjustably mounted upon the distal ends of the arm so that the light can be selectively positioned in barcode space.

Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention comprise an indicia reading terminal including a focus element that extends the range of focus distances at which the indicia reading terminal can decode decodable indicia. In one embodiment, the focus element comprises a variable form element and a variable position element, the combination of which causes an image distance that can change in accordance with a separation distance between these two elements. The focus element can comprise an actuator, e.g., a piezoelectric actuator, which can be coupled to the variable position element in a manner that can cause the variable position element to deform the variable form element, and in one example, the deformation changes the focal length of the variable form element.

Abstract:
The invention is optical assembly for use in a barcode reader that includes a frame having a rear housing and a pair of arms outwardly extended from the housing. An optical card containing an imaging lens is slidably received in a rear guideway situated between the arms. An aperture card is slidably received in a front guideway situated between the arms in front of the lens. Lamp support brackets are also mounted to either side of the arms. Each bracket contains a pair of LEDs that are aligned in coplanar relation with the imaging lens. A cylindrical lens is mounted in front of the lamp support brackets within the arms of the frame to magnify and focus the illumination from the LED upon a target in barcode space. A horizontally extended field stop aperture is positioned in front of each LED.
Abstract:
The present invention is an imaging module including various optical components and a circuit board, which, in one embodiment, carries essentially an entirety of illumination and aiming LEDs of the module. The module includes a combination of features which result in the size of the module being reduced. The module may comprise a refractive optic diffuser plate manufactured using a textured surface mold.
