Abstract:
Streams of data traffic from various applications may be handled by a network-aware adapter module as part of a greater platform for filtering communicating the streams to intelligent network components. A distinguishing factor associated with a given data stream may be determined and used as a basis for selecting a QoS policy setting for the given data stream. The selected QoS policy setting may then be signaled to a media access control layer to take advantage of the QoS function of the embedded underlying active media type that is active and optimal (both from technical and business perspective) to carry out the communication for the application.

Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for individually controlling User Equipment (UE) connections, dynamically and automatically, based on the applications and/or services that the connections carry. An eNodeB or other radio base station (RBS) monitors established connections between the UE and the RBS to detect applications running within those connections. Based on the stateful information of applications, the present invention proactively controls the state transitions of individual UEs between the CONNECTED and IDLE states thereby increasing radio link capacity and reducing control plane loading.

Abstract:
A multi-staged services policer implements multiple policies, at an edge device of network, on the data traffic of a single customer. In such a multi-staged services policer, services policers in a given stage may receive information from policers in subsequent stages. This information may be used when policing in the given stage.

Abstract:
An overlay network includes a virtual content server for representing a content provider in a virtual content network and at least a client having a membership in the virtual content network and a content path between the virtual content server and the client. Each node in the content path is also a member of the virtual content network and each link between nodes is provided by a tunnel to ensure trust and integrity at the content level.
Abstract:
At a service provider edge router in a service provider network, a logical grouping of one or more virtual private network tunnels through the service provider network is associated with a given value of a classification criterion. The receipt of a packet leads to a determination of a value of the classification criterion for the packet. Based on the value of the classification criterion, a logical grouping of one or more virtual private network tunnels may be selected and an identity of a processor, associated with the logical grouping determined. Finally, an internal route to the processor associated with the logical grouping is determined and the packet is sent over the internal route to the processor associated with the logical grouping.
