The device includes the pen having an end and an annular interior surface defining a bore, a cap comprising an expandable retention interface disposed within the bore proximate the end, and an anvil securedly attached to the tether. The expandable retention interface includes a radially outwardly directed surface in contact with the annular interior surface. The expanding retention interface further includes a radially inwardly directed surface in operable communication with the anvil. The expanding retention interface is responsive to an application of force less than a release force by the tether via the anvil to expand and secure cap to the pen, and is responsive to an application of force greater than the release force to release the cap from the pen.

An outer surface of the elastic retainer defines an internal dimension and an external dimension of the elastic retainer, the external dimension greater than the diameter of the orifice such that the internal cavity retains the elastic retainer. The anvil includes an angled retention surface having an external diameter greater than the internal dimension of the elastic retainer and less than the diameter of the orifice.

摘要： A checkout station for checking out articles selected for purchase and bearing UPC codes includes an island for checkout including a first checkout module, having a first UPC scanner and a first conveyor leading from the first scanner to a first bagging area. A first customer passageway extends lengthwise along one side of the first conveyor. A cashier station is adjacent a second side of the first conveyor. A second checkout module, having a second UPC scanner and a second conveyor leading from the second scanner to a second bagging area and having one side adjacent the cashier station. A second customer passageway extends lengthwise along the other side of the second conveyor. Checkout is practiced by a customer scanning article UPC and an operator (cashier) processing payment, increasing throughput. Throughput improvement is further enhanced by providing a bagging area adjacent an exit of the conveyor and divider apparatus operable for placing a portion of the bagging area in communication with the conveyor exit correspondingly with the size of the customer order. The divider apparatus is further operable for isolating from the conveyor exit that bagging area which is not placed in communication with the conveyor exit.

The apparatus includes an open-frame back, a pair of opposing support arms to support an open plastic bag, a pair of opposing open-frame sides, and a gate. The opposing sides are connected to the back and are positioned to define a receiving area for the plastic bag. The gate may be connected to a side or the back and retains an item placed in an open bag within the receiving area. Furthermore, guards may be mounted near the top of each side to retain handles of the bag supply within a predefined area. The apparatus may be attached to a scale associated with a self checkout lane.

摘要： A computer to computer data communication system for minimizing software protocol is disclosed wherein transmitted errors in data transmitted from one computer to another are detected when they occur by means of a bit-by-bit data echo transmission technique. True and inverted or complementary data are transmitted simultaneously serially over twisted pair lines for comparison, bit-by-bit by comparing each transmitted bit to the corresponding inverted bit to derive an error signal indicative of the condition of like polarity of the compared bits. If the compared bits are of like polarity, an error signal is generated to enable correction of the transmission error on a word by word basis, while inhibiting processing of the uncorrected data. Concurrently, received data is returned to the transmitting processor over a return data line for a like comparison. When an error condition exists, the returned data is inverted, forcing an error condition and inhibiting further transmission for the remainder of the transfer cycle. Thus, bit-by-bit detection, word-by-word correction and a variable block length capability in a double data transfer environment are accomplished, with both data processing and transmission inhibited until data errors are corrected.
