    摘要: A pneumatic relay, and more particularly a pneumatic reversing relay, wherein the output decreases with increasing signal pressure. The relay is of the rolling diaphragm type, each rolling diaphragm including a radially outer clamping flange, a radially inner clamping flange and an intermediate rolling wall. Means are provided for securing clamping flanges of the rolling diaphragms against pull-out, creep and relaxation of clamping forces. The valve has a freely floating valve stem having a high degree of pneumatic stability combined with low stem friction. The freely floating operation is obtained by means of an "O" ring surrounding the valve stem and a baffle plate deforming the "O" ring. The relay includes a bias spring whose bias is controlled by the deformation of a metal bonnet housing the bias spring. Spring retainer caps transmit the deformation of the bias spring in a precise and stable manner. The supply pressure port is connected to a pressure control chamber by a fluid passage including a valve element and a valve seat, the valve stem being surrounded by a helical compression spring positioned to obtain normally closed valve operation. The supply fluid flows past the movable valve element, the fixed supply seal, and along the stem and is then deviated to the pressure control chamber. The stem has a portion of increased diameter which cooperates as valve element with the seat of the exhaust valve. The seat of the supply valve is impact resistant and is affixed to the relay body without use of threads, or like fastener means subject to change of adjustment. The various components of the device are held together by a clamp ring having an opening or window for the admission of signal pressure. Anti-rotation pins are used to prevent relative rotary movement of the parts held together by the clamp ring.

    摘要: A force balance instrument providing precision control of pneumatic actuators in response to command pressure signals independent of external forces on the actuator shaft. The instrument includes a high gain signal detection circuit in combination with one or two pilot operated output valves. In the case of two output valves inverse "push-pull" control of a double acting pneumatic actuator is provided. Full supply pressure differential can be developed across the piston of the actuator, permitting to minimize the size of the actuator for any specified output force.The positioner proper controls the position of valve actuator system through a stem connector arm and a feed-back spring. A force balance condition is initially established between the feedback spring and the force of a rolling diaphragm controlled piston assembly for the range of signal pressure P.sub.1 to be used. Any change in this force balance condition because of a change in signal pressure P.sub.1 produces a change in clearance between the above referred-to rolling diaphragm controlled piston assembly and a pilot nozzle. Air under pressure is fed from a chamber which may be referred-to as output chamber through a passageway having a restriction to a chamber which will be referred-to as a servo chamber. The servo chamber is vented through the orifice of the aforementioned nozzle and affixed to the aforementioned movable nozzle support which is, in effect, a rolling diaphragm controlled piston assembly. The above nozzle controls the exhaust rate of the serve chamber.In double acting positioners a reversing valve is connected to the positioner proper.

    摘要: A shaft sealing precluding fluid from moving in a direction longitudinally of the shaft. At the same time the shaft sealing allows a motion of the shaft in axial direction, an inclination of the shaft, and may also allow a rotary motion of the shaft relative to its sealing means. The sealing means is a rolling diaphragm including a clamping flange on one end of the rolling wall thereof. There is a difference of pressure to either side of the rolling wall of the diaphragm. Its shaft has a predetermined outer diameter, and its radially inward directed bottom has a central bore therein equal to the predetermined outer diameter of the shaft. A tubular member having an inner diameter equal to the outer diameter of the shaft is mounted on the shaft. That tubular member has an outer diameter of such thickness as to engage a length of the rolling wall of the rolling diaphragm. The aforementioned tubular member has an end surface in permanent engagement with the bottom of the rolling diaphragm with a cylindrical elastomeric member having a projection conforming substantially with the shape of a portion of reduced diameter of the shaft and engaging under pressure said portion of reduced diameter.

    摘要: A self-aligning seal for minimizing, or entirely suppressing, the flow of a fluid in a direction generally longitudinally of a shaft subjected to axial motions and to tilting motions in any direction. The seal comprises a shaft, a bushing surrounding said shaft, a convoluted diaphragm having radially inner support means affixed to said bushing and radially outer support means affixed to a fixed structure. The bushing has abutment means limiting the relative movement of bushing and shaft. The bushing has preferably externally the shape of a frustum of a cone which facilitates connecting the radially inner end of the convoluted diaphragm to the bushing. The bushing may also be provided with elastomeric sealing means such as an "O" ring precluding the flow of fluid through the narrow gap formed between the shaft and the shaft-receiving bore of the bushing.

    摘要: A vacuum controller for maintaining a defined vacuum pressure to a remote location, including a housing which defines a cavity. The controller includes means for connecting the cavity to the remote location, to a high vacuum, and to a control signal pressure. There is a cup-shaped plunger, having an opening in its side wall, which is adapted to reciprocate in the cavity, and there is a flexible diaphragm which seals between the housing and the plunger. The diaphragm also operates as a valving mechanism, such that, when the plunger moves in one direction, the diaphragm closes off the opening in the side wall of the plunger, and when the plunger moves in the other direction, it opens the opening. There is a check valve in said controller to prevent inversion of the diaphragms.
