    摘要: Test meters, particularly of the type employed for testing electrical circuits, e.g. multimeters, are improved in operational efficiency. In one aspect, remote selection of test and/or report format frees the operators hands for concentration on a test piece. In another test results or format information are conveyed as synthesized speech in any of a number of selectable formats. By combining both aspects in a hand-held multimeter, a high degree of interaction between the operator and the meter is achieved.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a rapid response thermocouple probe 10 having a resilient, replaceable thermocouple element 50 probe 10, comprising cylindrical body 20 having housing means 30 at one end, securing means 40 associated with housing means 30 and comprising two securing elements, 40a and 40b, in electrical isolation from each other, and a resilient thermocouple element 50 comprising an arcuate strip of two dissimilar metals joined together, ends, 55 and 57, of thermocouple element 50 being removably secured to securing means 40. The thermocouple probe of this invention eliminates the necessity of discarding the entire probe upon wear or breakage of thermocouple element 50.

The compensator may be included in a module having input sockets or input plugs to coact with plugs or sockets of conventional thermocouple units. The compensator and battery may be encapsulated, or an accessible switch may be included in the battery circuit.

    摘要: A separable electrical connector with a housing formed of electrically insulating material includes an external grounding terminal anchor positioned in a grounding strip groove on the surface of the housing. The groove, in the form of an open-sided recess, receives and positions a suitably dimensioned grounding strip of electrically conductive material. The strip is coupled to the anchor by a screw fastener which engages mating screw threads formed in the anchor. One or more display surfaces surrounded by upstanding protective wall surfaces are formed on the exterior surface of the housing for the display of identifying indicia, and the base surf ace of the external grounding strip groove may be used as a display surface, if desired, in the absence of a grounding strip. The grounding terminal anchor may be made of electrically conductive material so that an anchored conductive grounding strip will be coupled to the housing both electrically and mechanically. When formed of conductive material, the grounding terminal anchor may serve as an electrical coupling between a conductive member mounted on the housing and one or more external conductors, or it may serve as a coupling between two or more conductors external to the housing, while serving at the same time as a mechanical coupling between the housing and the external conductors.

    摘要: A position housing assembly, for a generally cylindrical infra-red thermocouple sensor of the type having a sensing face at one end and one or more electrical conductors extending from the other end, includes a cylindrical housing having a central bore for telescopically receiving a sensor. A conical reflective surface, at one end of the housing, concentrates infra-red rays toward the face of the sensor; the reflective surface may be integral with the housing or it may be carried by a separable adapter. A separable handle attaches to the housing, and extends into the housing wall for guiding conductors from a sensor to the exterior of the housing. A set screw on the housing clamps the sensor within the central bore. Adjustable positioning legs extend axially from the housing to position it relative to a test surface. In one embodiment the legs are attached to a moveable positioning bracket, while in another, the legs slide within axial bores integrally formed in the housing. A clamping screw or screws lock the legs or the movable bracket in position. Rotatable rollers may be provided at the ends of the positioning legs to facilitate movement of the housing along a surface. Calibration marks on the housing or on the legs further facilitate positioning of the legs relative to the housing.
