摘要： The present invention is an improved disc brake plate wherein its two components, namely a steel backing plate and a friction plate or puck, are fabricated separately. The steel backing plate is stamped with a pattern of discrete protrusions rising from one face. The plates are cut from friction material extruded into any shape of rod or into a thick sheet after which they are impressed with a pattern of discrete recesses matching the backing plate's protuberances. The plates are then cured hard and finished as needed. An adhesive is used to bond the two components into a completed brake plate. In this way a wide range of vehicle brake plates can be assembled from separately prepared plates and backing plates.

摘要： Vertical and horizontal drainwater heat exchangers have built-in heat storage for continuous heat recovery. The drainwater heat exchanger is a straight, large diameter copper tube having external fins. This tube runs through a reservoir which is filled once on installation with clean water. At least one convection chamber made of insulative material surrounds the tube and has an opening only on top. All heat transfer between the drainwater and the reservoir takes place only when the small volume of water in these convection chambers is heated. A second heat exchanger for heating the cold water supply of the building's hot water heater, comprises a large diameter plastic tube coiled around the reservoir. By inverting the invention and connecting the second heat exchanger to a cold water faucet, water is made colder for drinking.

摘要： The present invention is a rack for articles such as compact discs (CD's) video tapes, audio cassettes, trays, boxes (media) and the like. The rack is made to fit the media size being racked and filed. What is new and novel about the present rack is that it provides means to freely slide the media directly to a new position in the rack without having to remove media in the rack. This quick refiling to make room for additional media to maintain proper filing sequence and thereby maintain desired filing order. The rack will hold the media in any position: vertical; horizontal; upside down; and in a rotating filing wheel. The invention has opposing channel structures each with compressible elements therein such that media inserted between the fixed channels must compress the elements thereby creating a side-to-side holding (compressive) force sufficient to hold the media at any location along the rack without direct support as in shelves, clips, notches, and the like.

摘要： The present invention is a jacket-type heat exchanger which may, for example, be used to replace or fit over a section of drainpipe to heat fresh cold water using the waste heat in the drainwater. Normal cold water pressure is used to create an internal-expanding force on the inner thermal contact wall of the jacket, which, in turn, creates an enormous heat-transfer clamping force on the drainpipe for fast heat transfer. A longitudinal gap in the jacket (or a two-piece jacket) enables clamping movement. An external sleeve with clamps resists bulging of the outer jacket wall. The heated cold water is plumbed to a faucet or water heater so as to reduce hot water use, which, in turn, reduces energy use and related environmental damage. Double-wall construction and venting for visible leak detection satisfies plumbing code requirements. A horizontal embodiment discloses a two-piece plastic-copper drainwater heat exchanger. Use on vehicular exhaust pipes is also contemplated for providing instant interior heat and/or motor warm-up.

摘要： A tool for burring the surface of a material. The tool has two sets of oppositely facing toothed blades which are made to move towards each other when the tool is pressed against a surface. Each tooth planes a shallow groove into the surface which results in hook-like burrs or planings rising from each groove. Limiters on the blade stroke ensure that the raised burr is not severed. A spring returns the blades to their start position. The resulting surface therefore has a plurality of shallow, non-piercing stopped grooves with a like plurality of hook-like burrs. Such a modified surface provides increased surface area for electrochemical activity, and a mechanical grip to materials bonded thereto. The tool uses replaceable blade packs which snap into a permanent tool housing. The tool may be operated with a simple hammer blow or it may be rapidly driven into large or samll areas of a surface by a manual and/or computer directed punch press.

摘要： An apparatus to preferentially temper a liquid (only heat it, or, only cool it) by heat exchange with a fluid of indeterminate temperature. A tank of the liquid is plumbed to a liquid dispenser such as a water faucet, heater or chiller and has a internal heat exchanger sealed through each end. A drainpipe with a slit sleeve for double-wall safety, passes through the housing with an annular space between and is connected to a supply of fluids. A gasket seals the space forming a conduit for the liquid. One end of the housing extends from the tank for the liquid inlet. The conduit has natural convection holes into the tank controlled by convection valves which are moved by convection allowing convection only in the direction which preferentially tempers the liquid in the tank, regardless of the temperature, volume, rate, and time of flow of fluids.

摘要： An outer plastic tube has water connections through the wall into an arcuate space defined by an O-ring spacer-gasket positioned between the wall and the perimeter margin of an inner cylinder rolled from a single-layer of sheet metal. A metal drainpipe with a removable bullet-shape at one end is forced through the cylinder to expand it and to thereby compress the gasket sealing the arcuate space. Thermal contact conductance is increased by the compressive force of water pressure. Water flow through the heat exchanger is both arcuate and turbulent to optimize heat transfer.

摘要： The present invention is a drainpipe heat exchanger to heat cold water using drainwater heat. A slit in a stiff exterior plastic sleeve with band clamps combine with internal hydraulic pressure to create a very high thermal contact force. Vertical and horizontal embodiments with and without protected heat storage are disclosed including a half jacket design for installation around operating drainpipes. A horizontal embodiment discloses a two-piece plastic-copper design. Double-wall construction and venting for visible leak detection satisfies plumbing code requirements. Use on vehicular or other combustion engine exhaust pipes is also contemplated.
