Abstract:
A method of manufacturing laminated bamboo sliver lumber, comprising steps of: selecting and using the bamboo outer slivers obtained from a bamboo and having an air dry density no less than about 0.95 g/cm3 and removing siliceous and wax layers thereon to obtain bamboo slivers having a width of about 1-4 mm. Drying the bamboo slivers to a moisture content of about 6-15%, machining the dried bamboo slivers to a thickness of about 0.5-3.5 mm and a width of about 5-22 mm, then dehumidifying the bamboo slivers to a moisture content of about 3-10%. Applying a glue to the bamboo slivers in which a ratio of the glue to an absolute dry weight of the bamboo slivers may be about 3-16%. A arranging the glued bamboo slivers with their width direction consistent with the vertical direction, then pressing the arranged bamboo slivers and curing the glue under a side pressure of about 3-15 MPa and a top pressure of about 1-6 MPa.

Abstract:
A bamboo scrimber includes a plurality of pressure-pressed bamboo strips impregnated with an adhesive and modified through heat-treatment. Each of the bamboo strips is formed with a plurality of slots penetrating through the bamboo strip substantially in a direction of thickness defined by the bamboo strip. A substantially longitudinal direction defined by the slots is substantially consistent with a substantially longitudinal direction defined by fibers of the bamboo strip.
Abstract:
A two-ply flooring plank is disclosed having two layers or “plies” with a bottom layer having a grain that runs generally transverse to a top layer or “cross-ply” to provide dimensional stability to the plank. The bottom layer includes a number of strips secured to the bottom of the top layer. The bottom layer strips are also placed with gaps between the individual strips of the second layer to allow flexibility of the flooring plank, which allows the flooring to more easily conform to irregularities in a subfloor upon which the flooring plank is mounted.

Abstract:
A flattened bamboo panel is disclosed having one single, solid layer of pressed bamboo culm wall with most of the exterior and interior zones. The processed bamboo panel provides at least one of its longitudinal surfaces seamless and both longitudinal cross sections parallel to each other and perpendicular to the longitudinal surfaces. Also disclosed is the process of constructing such flattened bamboo panel.
