A safety valve of the invention including a cleavable groove is provided in a battery case of a sealed battery containing a power generating element inside. The cleavable groove is partly formed with a measuring groove having a width wider than other portions. Even if other portions of the cleavable groove have fairly small groove width, a groove width of the cleavable groove can be obtained and determined the quality by measuring a groove width of the measuring groove. Thereby, a safety valve and a manufacturing method thereof, a sealed battery and a manufacturing method thereof, a vehicle, and a battery mounting device are provided to achieve less variation of valve opening pressure and stable product quality, as well as reliably assure the good quality.

A vessel manufacturing system is disclosed which manufactures vessels having a rectangular configuration from a tubular body which is filled with a content. The system includes a transverse sealing unit which applies transverse seals to the tubular body at a given spacing, a cutter for cutting through the transverse seals in the succession of vessels which are formed by the transverse sealing unit, a diversion unit for handing the vessels separated by the cutter by changing the orientation of the vessel from one in which the pair of transverse seals are spaced apart in the circumferential direction of a rotatable member to another in which the pair of transverse seals are spaced apart in the radial direction thereof, and a vessel shaper receiving vessels from the diversion unit to shape them into a rectangular configuration and adhesively connecting the flaps to the body. With the vessel shaper of the invention, the vessels can be manufactured continuously and at a high rate, using an overall arrangement which is compact as compared with the prior art.

A gas precharged, liquid filling machine operating with dual rows of containers includes a pair of concentrically disposed inner and outer rows of container receptacles, and an array of pairs of inner and outer gas precharged, filling mechanisms which are disposed directly above the respective rows of container receptacles. The pair of inner and outer filling mechanisms each include a valve which is independently operated, in accordance with the presence or absence of a container, by means of coaxially disposed rotary shafts. Snifter mechanisms for both filling mechanisms are simultaneously operated by a common snifter shaft. Each pair of inner and outer container receptacles, which are modularized, are mounted on a common elevating member in a manner to permit their elastic downward displacement in response to undue stresses applied thereto, thus avoiding the risk that the containers or bottles may be broken. This, in conjunction with the "no bottle-no filling" feature, completely prevents the liquid and pressurizing gas from splashing to the surrounding environment.

A piston is housed in a cylinder in a reciprocatingly movable manner, and one end of a hollow shaft is attached to the piston. Liquid flows into the cylinder from a tank through a check valve. Then a container comes into contact with a holding means attached at the bottom end of the shaft. The container raises the shaft to pressurize the liquid in the cylinder, thereby a check valve provided at the bottom portion of the shaft opens to discharge the pressurized liquid into the container.

A filling device for use in a bottling machine, which device is provided with a sealing member for closing the opening of a bottle, a filling tube for supplying the bottle with a filling liquid and an exhaust tube for discharging the air from the bottle to the outside during the filling operation. When the opening of the bottle is closed by the sealing member, the filling liquid is fed into the bottle through the filling tube and the air in the bottle is simultaneously discharged outside. The filling device is provided with a valve mechanism which receives the pressure of the air remaining in the bottle as an indication pressure when the filling liquid in the bottle blocks the lower end of the exhaust tube. The valve mechanism closes the exhaust tube or the filling tube when the indication pressure exceeds a predetermined value.
