    摘要: A spark plug including: a cylindrical metal shell; a cylindrical insulator fixed to the metal shell; a center electrode having its leading end protruding from a leading end of the insulator and its trailing end fixed to the insulator; and a ground electrode having one end fixed to the metal shell and forming a discharge gap between the ground electrode and the center electrode. The ground electrode includes a precious metal alloy portion containing: 50 weight % or more of a first component of one of Rh and Pt; less than 50 weight % of a second component of the other of Rh and Pt; and optionally a third component containing at least one of: Ni in an amount of less than 7 weight %; and Zr in an amount of less than 2 weight % the content of the third component being less than that of the second component.

    摘要: An object of the invention is to provide a higher-durability spark plug provided with a center electrode and a side electrode. At least one of the center electrode and the side electrode includes a precious metal member facing a spark discharge gap between the electrodes. A sweating phenomenon of the precious metal member can be suppressed while spark abrasion, oxidation abrasion and abnormal abrasion of the precious metal member are suppressed. The precious metal member contains Ir as a main component, and smaller amounts of Rh, Ru, and Ni.

Thus, a corrosion suppression layer originating from the components of the electrode base material is formed on the surface of a tip end portion of the insulator 3, so that corrosion (channeling) of the surface of the tip end portion of the insulator 3 due to creeping spark discharge can be effectively suppressed. In addition, when the constituent metal of the electrode base material 2n has a coefficient of thermal conductivity of 17 to 30 W/m·K, the heat transfer performance of the electrode is enhanced, so that durability against electrode consumption can be greatly improved.

    摘要: In a sparkplug voltage probe device in use for an internal combustion engine, an insulator base is attached to the internal combustion engine, an upper surface of the insulator base having a plurality of grooves in which the sparkplug cables are placed. An insulator sheet is embedded in the insulator base. An electrode layer is provided on an upper surface of the insulator base along the grooves to form a static capacity between the electrode layer and the sparkplug cables when the voltage is applied across the spark plugs. On a lower surface of the insulator sheet an electrical shield layer is provided connected to the internal combustion engine by a ground wire. A lead wire electrically connects the electrode plate to a microcomputer so as to analyze the engine burning condition based on the static capacity between the electrode plate and the sparkplug cables.

    摘要: In a snap-in type spark plug voltage probe device, the insulator base has an upper half and a lower half, both ends of which are integrally connected by means of a flexible portion. The upper half and the lower half have a plurality of grooves in which spark plug cables are placed. The upper half and the lower half are joined together by the flexible portion when in a closed position. The upper half has an opening to receive a protrusion provided on the lower half of the insulator base to maintain the upper half of the insulator base along the grooves, providing static capacity between the electrode layer and the spark plug cables when voltage is applied across the spark plugs. A lead wire electrically connects the electrode layer to a microcomputer so as to analyze the burning condition based on the static capacity between the electrode layer and the spark plug cables. An electrical shield layer is embedded in the insulator base in the proximity of the electrode layer and connected to the internal combustion engine by way of a ground wire located at a side of the electrode layer remote from the grooves so as to electrically shield the electrical layer. An insulator sheet is embedded in the insulator base and located between the electrode layer and the electrical shield layer.

    摘要: A misfire detector for use in an internal combustion engine has an ignition coil including a primary coil and a secondary coil. An interrupter circuit is provided for on-off actuation of primary current flowing through a primary circuit of the ignition coil. A distributor has a series gap provided in a secondary circuit of the ignition coil, and a spark plug is adapted to be energized from the ignition coil through the series gap of the distributor. A voltage charging circuit works to electrically charge a stray capacity inherent in the spark plug immediately after an end of a spark action of the spark plug. A spark plug voltage detector circuit distinguishes the voltage waveform of more than a predetermined reference voltage level so as to deform the voltage waveform into output signals. On the basis of the width of the output signals, a distinction circuit determines whether or not the spark action ignites an air-fuel mixture in a cylinder of the internal combustion engine.

    摘要: In a misfire detector device for use in internal combustion engine, an electrical interrupter circuit on-off actuates a primary current flowing through a primary circuit of an ignition coil to induce a sparkplug voltage which is applied to a multi-electrode type spark plug. A check diode or a series gap is provided in a secondary circuit of the ignition coil so as to prevent a current flowing back to the ignition coil. A sparkplug voltage detector circuit detects an attenuation time length of a sparkplug voltage waveform presented subsequent to a predetermined time period after an end of a spark action of the spark plug. On the basis of the attenuation time length, a distinction circuit determines whether a misfire occurs in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine.

    摘要: In equipment for recognizing misfire in an internal combustion engine, a first voltage waveform is obtained at an intermediate point (A) between a high impedance element (41) and a low impedance element (42). The first voltage waveform has a capacitive discharge component and an inductive discharge component during the spark and a voltage component after completion of the spark. The first voltage waveform is inversely amplified by a comparator (51) and divided by a shunt circuit (52) to obtain a second voltage waveform. In an integration circuit (53), a condenser (C1) is electrically charged by an output voltage from the comparator (51) to obtain a third voltage waveform. The second voltage waveform and the third voltage are compared by a comparator (54) to generate an output pulse. On the basis of the behavior of relatively short and relatively wide output pulse (d2, D2) and additional short output pulses (d3, d4) from the comparator (54), it is determined whether or not a misfire has occurred in the internal combustion engine.
