All the plurality of read elements are located higher than an uppermost one of the plurality of write elements in the lamination direction.

摘要： Provided is a method for testing a head element that enables proper evaluation of the head element based on a characteristic of the head element under high-temperature and high-stress conditions. The testing method can be performed on a thin-film magnetic head including a head element and a heating element capable of applying a heat and stress to the head element, or performed on a row bar or a substrate wafer on which a plurality of the head elements and a plurality of the heating elements are disposed. The testing method comprises the steps of: causing the heating element to generate heat to apply a heat and stress to the head element; and measuring a characteristic of the head element under the heat and stress to evaluate the head element.

摘要： An ink sheet cassette of reduced size and a recording apparatus for loading the ink sheet cassette therein are provided. The ink sheet cassette includes an ink sheet, a first reel capable of winding the ink sheet around itself, a second reel capable of winding the ink sheet around itself, and a frame holding the first reel and the second reel, bent orthogonally with respect to an ink layer surface on the ink sheet. The recording apparatus includes a loading portion capable of loading the above ink sheet cassette therein, a recording head capable of recording from the ink sheet in the ink sheet cassette loaded in the loading portion to thereby record an image on a recording medium and feed means for feeding the recording medium. The frame of the ink sheet cassette also has a guide portion to guide feeding of a recording medium when the ink sheet cassette is loaded in the recording apparatus.

摘要： A picture reading apparatus is disclosed which comprises a camera which converts a picture to be read to an electric signal, a supporting member for supporting the camera movably, and a voice input unit. A control device serves to minimize the output from the voice input unit during movement of the supporting member. Thus while a mechanism for moving the camera is in operation, the output from the voice input unit is minimized to suppress the output of operational noise. Video output is inhibited during camera movement.

A thin-film magnetic head includes a substrate, a magnetic read head element that has a shield area and is formed on the substrate, a magnetic write head element that has a pole area and is formed on the opposite side of the substrate with respect to the magnetic read head element, an overcoat layer that covers the magnetic read head element and the magnetic write head element and is formed on the substrate, a heater that heats at least during the magnetic read head element or the magnetic write head element in operation and is formed in the overcoat layer, and a slit area that splits the shield area in a shield length direction and is made of lower thermal conductivity material than the one of the shield area.
