    摘要: An apparatus for producing a continuous succession of pieces or sheets, particularly suitable for infeeding cut pieces of wrapping material to wrapping machines, comprises a track for collating and sending forward the said sheets or cuttings; a plurality of auxiliary tracks leading to the said collation track; means for channelling along the auxiliary tracks, successively, wrapping material from respective reels; and control means for rhythmically cutting such material and for automatically feeding material, end to end, from a fresh reel on exhaustion of an empty reel. The control means comprise sensor means for detecting the end of the material from the empty reel; for cutting from the end portion a piece of material equal in length to or a multiple of the length of the said sheets or cuttings and for thereupon causing material to move forward along another of the said auxiliary tracks so that there is a continuous succession of sheets or cuttings along the above mentioned track where the said sheets or cuttings are collated and sent forward.

    摘要: A rotary veneer clipper has a pair of cutting blades spaced 180.degree. apart on a rotary clipper shaft for cutting cooperation with a roller anvil below and parallel to the clipper shaft and over which sheet material passes. The clipper shaft rotates intermittently on signal to cause one of its blades to clip the sheet. The clipper shaft is driven by a pair of pneumatic drive cylinders mounted one to each of two crank arms connected to a common drive shaft. The cylinders stroke once simultaneously to rotate the drive shaft alternately in opposite directions through 90.degree. upon each successive clip signal. When the drive shaft rotates in one direction, a first gear train transmits power from the drive shaft through a first one-way clutch to the clipper shaft to rotate one of the blades downwardly and through 180.degree. to clip the sheet. When the drive shaft is rotated in the opposite direction, a second gear train transmits power from the drive shaft to the clipper shaft through a second one-way clutch to rotate the other clipper blade through 180.degree. in the direction of sheet travel to clip the sheet. Locking means including a pneumatic locking cylinder limits clipper shaft rotation to exactly 180.degree. upon each stroking of the drive cylinders to accurately index the cutting blades. An optional blade speed control feature is also provided.

The cutoff mechanism includes sensing means adjustable to sense a predetermined length of strip and operable to activate a cutoff saw to cut the strip to the predetermined length. Because the strip being cut is moving, the cutoff mechanism must also move with the strip and at the same rate to preclude binding between the cutoff saw and the strip being cut.

    摘要: A continuously traveling plastic extrusion passes in line through a cut-off and/or tooling unit mounted on a carriage which travels a limited stroke at the same speed as the extrusion, during which a tooling operation is performed on the extrusion, whereupon the carriage returns to its initial position. Such operation of the tooling is optionally triggered and timed by any one of: (a) a metering wheel which rolls on the advancing extrusion and has a circumference substantially equalling an extrusion length to be cut off and/or tool-formed, the wheel periodically cam-operating a control microswitch; or (b) an end gauging control microswitch which is periodically operated for a limited interval by an extrusion passing through the press; or (c) a photoelectric control switch which is tripped for a limited time by the traveling extrusion interrupting the photoelectric cell beam. The mechanical operations of the tooling unit and carriage are controlled by solenoid controlled valve and cylinder means; and a tooled extrusion piece is automatically discharged from the equipment by synchronized fluid pressure-operated dump means.
