A transport unit transports a medium on which plural marks are formed at predetermined intervals in the transport direction of the medium. An image forming unit forms an image on the medium. A reading unit is disposed to oppose positions at which the plural marks on the medium are formed so as to read the medium and to generate read information. A detecting unit detects the plural marks from the read information in accordance with predetermined times based on the predetermined intervals of the plural marks. A position adjusting unit adjusts the position of the image to be formed on the medium on the basis of a result of detecting the plural marks. A speed adjusting unit adjusts the transport speed of the medium on the basis of the read information.

    摘要: This invention relates to a printing device that performs fixation after transfer, and which prevents the occurrence of no transfer even when feeding the paper backward starting printing from the next page after the final page. This printing device comprises image-formation units (3, 4) that transfer a toner image, a fixation unit (5), and a control unit (10). The control unit (10) control adjustment of the moisture content on either the final page or leading page. In order to do that, it lowers the fixation energy of the fixation unit (5) for the final page. There is a moisture-adjustment mechanism (16) that reduces the moisture content of the leading page. Heat energy is applied to the leading page by the fixation unit (5). This reduces the difference in the amount of shrinkage between the final page and the leading page, and prevents wrinkling of the leading page.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of image bearing members bearing latent images, image forming units for forming the latent images on the image bearing members, developing units for developing the latent images on the image bearing members, a transport belt for transporting a transfer member on which images of different colors developed by the developing units are successively transferred as the transfer member is transported, and image pickup elements, arranged obliquely to a main scan direction of the image forming units and located on a downstream of a most downstream one of the image bearing members along a direction in which the transport belt transports the transfer member. The image pickup elements detect as image information transmitted or reflected light quantity distributions of regions which include marks transferred on the transport belt from the image bearing members. The image forming apparatus further includes a correction unit for detecting correction quantities from error quantities of marks transferred from the image bearing members other than a reference image bearing member with respect to a reference mark transferred from the reference image bearing member based on the image information detected by the image pickup elements, and correcting positions of the latent images formed on the image bearing members other than the reference image bearing member depending on the correction quantities.
