Abstract: A substantially planar self-folding film assembly to generate a folded three-dimensional assembly. The assembly includes a flexible support substrate, adhesive elements, and folding members. The folding members include a base, a folding region, and a hinge adjacent each folding region attached at the base to the flexible support substrate by at least one of the adhesive elements. An array of polymer actuators is co-extensive, or shaped to be not co-extensive, with each of the flexible folding members. Upon activation by a patterned light to heat conversion layer, each polymer actuator is designed and configured to provide a displacement of the corresponding flexible folding member about each hinge.

Abstract: A gas sensor assembly having a chamber that can be open to allow a sensor to sample and monitor the air for gases and can be passively closed to protect the sensor from water and contaminants. The assembly includes a tube having one end coupled to the chamber with an air passage and an opposite open end. When a level of water in the tube rises through the open end, air with positive pressure in the chamber and tube prevents the water from reaching the gas sensor. Instead of using positive air pressure, the tube can include a sealing member such as a float to close the air passage and protect the gas sensor.

Abstract: A securement system for securing a multi-lumen medical article. The system can include a patch, and a longitudinal flap. The flap can include a fixed proximal portion that is fixed with respect to the patch; a hinge; and a free distal portion movable via the hinge with respect to the patch and the fixed proximal portion of the flap between an open position and a closed position. The hinge can include a lateral width that is less than a lateral width of the patch and less than a lateral width of the flap. The hinge can be dimensioned to be received between two adjacent proximal tubings of the medical article, e.g., to provide a longitudinal stop to the medical article. The free distal portion can be configured to secure at least the multi-lumen joint of the medical article to the patch.

The MMR sensor is configured to be disposed in the environment. The MMR sensor comprises a magnetic bias layer, a resonator, a spacer, and an environmental change receptor. The reader is configured to measure a frequency characteristic of the MMR sensor after the environmental variable changes and the change to the environmental variable is evaluated based on the frequency characteristic.
