摘要: A method of improving a welding helmet through adding a light shield to selectively cover the light sensor of the welding helmet's window, thereby preventing sensor-based deployment of the automatic window darkening system when the wearer is performing non-welding activity in need of a fully transparent window. The light shield is moveable to an inoperative position so that the automatic window darkening system works as intended when the wearer is welding.

摘要: In some examples, a system (1900) includes a hearing protector (1920); at least one position sensor; at least one sound monitoring sensor; at least one computing device configured to: receive, from the at least one sound monitoring sensor and over a time duration, indications of sound levels to which a worker is exposed; determine, from the at least one position sensor and during the time duration, that the hearing protector is not positioned at one or more ears of the worker to attenuate the sound levels; and generate, in response to the determination that at least one of the sound levels satisfies an exposure threshold during the time duration and the hearing protector is not positioned at one or more ears of the worker to attenuate the sound levels, an indication for output.

摘要: A welding helmet can record a welding time based on an arc intensity detected by a sensor mounted on the helmet. A configured level is compared with the arc intensity detected by the sensor to determine a welding duration. Individual welding times from multiple welding instances can be accumulated over a period of time to provide a total welding time for an operator. The total welding time may be stored in the welding helmet.

摘要: An embodiment includes an auto-darkening apparatus for supporting welding performed by a human welder. The auto-darkening apparatus includes a housing configured to be removably installed into a welding helmet. The auto-darkening apparatus also includes an ADF lens assembly configured to transition from an un-darkened state to a darkened state in response to light from an arc being formed between a welding electrode and a work piece during a welding process. The auto-darkening apparatus further includes a magnification assembly integrated with the ADF lens assembly within the housing. The magnification assembly is configured to provide magnification of light coming through the ADF lens assembly. The magnification is continuously user-adjustable from a defined lower level of magnification to a defined upper level of magnification.
