Abstract:
Systems and methods for electronic access control for secured assets including locked facilities, lockers, shared vehicles and vending machines, which do not have internet connectivity. A mobile device communicates with a server to perform the authentication and access control steps, limiting the asset's interactions with outside devices to exchanging and updating access codes via short-range communications, such as near-field communications. Authentication and access control steps may be performed when the mobile device is at the secured asset, or alternatively those steps may be performed in advance, to allow access to assets located outside of data service to the mobile device.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a system and method for controlling spot lights, such as theater or display lights, which incorporates a handheld remote control that uses intuitive motions for selecting, positioning, dimming and other lighting setup functions. The present disclosure describes a spotlight control device, a lighting system including the spotlight control device, and a method for spotlight control. The spotlight control device incorporates a first light source that emits a first control beam that activates a desired spotlight. The activated spotlight can provide feedback to indicate that it has been activated. A second light source from the control device emits a second control beam that is used to direct the activated spotlight to an illumination region.
Abstract:
A system for augmenting displayed content with embedded invisible information such as visual or audio information, or a network link to the augmented information. The system includes a display module, first and second backlight modules, and a controller. The first and second backlight modules selectively provide visible light and invisible light, such as infrared light, to the display module. The controller provides first and second frames of content, alternating in a time sequential manner, to the display module with the first frames of content backlit by the first backlight module and the second frames of content backlit by only the second backlight module. The second frames of content provide invisible information embedded with the first frames of content and can be detected an infrared camera and used to display or provide augmented information.
Abstract:
Tags are made from optical films to provide a pattern that is inconspicuous to ordinary observers, but that is detectable by a camera or other imaging device. The pattern is provided by first and second portions of a patterned layer, the first portions selectively filtering at least a portion of blue visible light from other visible light wavelengths. Filtering in the portion of the blue region helps make the pattern inconspicuous. The tags may also include an indicia layer configured to mark a location of the pattern, and a contrast enhancing layer disposed behind the patterned layer and configured to enhance a contrast of the pattern. In some cases, the first portions of the patterned layer may filter optical wavelengths other than blue, such as near-infrared light. The pattern may comprise machine-readable information, e.g., a linear bar code or a 2-D bar code. Associated methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract:
A system for human interaction based upon intention detection. The system includes a sensor for providing information relating to a posture of a person detected by the sensor, a processor, and a display device. The processor is configured to receive the information from the sensor and process the received information in order to determine if an event occurred. This processing includes determining whether the posture of the person indicates a particular intention, such as attempting to take a photo. If the event occurred, the processor is configured to provide an interaction with the person via the display device such as displaying a message or the address of a web site.
