Abstract: An arc quenching device for a three-phase electrical switchgear. The device includes a first busbar, a second busbar and a third busbar, each of a respective phase of the three-phase switchgear. The device also includes a first piston and a second piston, each of an electrically conductive material. The device also includes at least one pyrotechnical actuator arranged with the first and second pistons to axially move each of the first and second pistons if the at least one pyrotechnical actuator is fired. The first and second pistons are arranged in relation to the first, second and third busbars such that said axial movement brings the first piston into contact with both the first busbar and the second busbar, and the second piston into contact with both the first busbar and the third busbar.

Abstract: A bypass switch provides a bypass path between a first terminal and a second terminal. The bypass switch includes: a first contact device; a second contact device; and a plunger being moveable from an initial state, via a first state, to a second state, wherein in the initial state the first terminal and second terminal are conductively separated; in the first state a movement of the plunger causes the first contact device to close a first conductive connection between the first terminal and the second terminal; and in the second state the plunger mechanically forces the second contact device to close a second conductive connection between the first terminal and the second terminal.

Abstract: A bypass switch provides a bypass path between a first terminal and a second terminal. The bypass switch includes: a first set of electrical contacts respectively connected to the first terminal and the second terminal; a second set of electrical contacts respectively connected to the first terminal and the second terminal; and a movable member. The movable member includes a first conductive section, a second conductive section and an insulator between the first conductive section and the second conductive section, wherein the movable member is movable from an initial state, via a first state, to a second state, wherein in the initial state the first set of electrical contacts are conductively separated and the second set of electrical contacts are conductively separated, in the first state the first set of electrical contacts are conductively connected via the first conductive section and the second set of electrical contacts are conductively separated, and in the second state the second set of electrical contacts are conductively connected via the second conductive section.

Abstract: An electrical short-circuiting closing switch including an electrically insulating housing; a first electrode having a tapered first electrode opening; a second electrode having a tapered second electrode opening; a movable contact having a tapered profile, the movable contact being movable relative to the housing along a closing axis from an open position, in which the movable contact is electrically disconnected from the second electrode, to a closed position, in which the movable contact electrically connects the first electrode and the second electrode by engaging the tapered profile with the first electrode opening and the second electrode opening; and an actuator arranged to force the movable contact from the open position to the closed position; wherein at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is flexibly attached to the housing. Abstract: A switch assembly is disclosed for use in a circuit configured to carry a current between a first electrical conductor and a second electrical conductor. The switch assembly includes at least a first current path and a second current path, each of which includes an electrical contact which can be selectively connected to or disconnected from the second electrical conductor. At least one of the first current path and the second current path is configured such that it has a frequency-dependent reactance or impedance so as to force or cause current with a frequency which complies with a selected frequency criterion and which flows between the first electrical conductor and the second electrical conductor to flow, at least to a greater extent, via a selected one of the first current path and the second current path.
