Abstract: In a multicolor offset printing machine, apparatus for circumferentially adjusting the form or perfecting cylinder for register printing, there is provided two pair of intermeshing gears. The first pair includes two helical gears coaxially arranged and axially shiftable relative to each other. One of these first gears carries a third gear engaging a pinion whose supporting rod is secured to the perfecting cylinder. The second pair of gears is jointly mounted to be rotatable about an axially shiftable axle which when so shifted causes the gears of the first pair to be angularly offset with respect to each other. This causes simultaneous displacement between the third gear means and the pinion which causes the perfecting cylinder to be correspondingly offset. The supporting rod of the pinion is also provided with means permitting it to be angularly adjusted thereby causing axial offset of the gears and consequent adjustment of the form cylinder with respect thereto.

Abstract: An offset printing cylinder form is provided with a clamping apparatus comprising a pair of supporting members spaced apart and parallel to the axis of the cylinder adjacent the periphery thereof. Each of the supporting members mounts a clamp bar spaced therefrom, between which are mounted bearing means in which eccentrically rotatable shaft rods are located. A manual lever is provided for rotating the shaft rods into and out of engagement with the clamping bar. Latch means for holding the shafts thus engaged are also provided.

Abstract: In a drive for the fluid-distributing roller of a printing press, the roller can be used for distributing either moisture or ink and, in addition to rotating about its axis, is required to be axially reciprocated. The distributing roller coaxially surrounds a drive shaft with which it rotates but with respect to which it can be axially reciprocated. Housed within the roller and surrounding the drive shaft is a step down transmission driven by the drive shaft and driving a cam assembly which is also situated within the distributing roller between the latter and the drive shaft. The cam assembly is driven by the stepdown transmission to provide for the distributing roller lateral movement cycles each of which includes axial movement first in one direction and then in the opposite direction. Each of the lateral movement cycles takes place during a time when the distributing roller and drive shaft both rotate through more than one revolution.
