Abstract:
A network comprises a destination node; a source node configured to output an enhanced route trace packet; and one or more intermediate nodes configured to forward the enhanced route trace packet toward the destination node based on a routing table until the enhanced route trace packet reaches the destination node. Each of the one or more intermediate nodes is further configured to insert identifying information into the enhanced route trace packet. The destination node is configured to send a response packet to the source node containing all the identifying information entered by the one or more intermediate nodes. The destination node is also configured to insert identifying information into the response packet.
Abstract:
An infrastructure management device comprises a processor configured to obtain port status and networking device status for each of one or more physicals networking devices in a system. The device also comprises a display unit coupled to the processor and configured to display one or more virtual networking devices, and a user input element configured to provide user input to the processor. The port status indicates that a cable is inserted into the first port and the processor obtains cable data identifying one or more characteristics of the cable inserted into the first port. The processor is configured to compare the one or more characteristics of the cable inserted into the first port with one or more characteristics defined in the work order. The processor is configured to provide a notification to a user indicating whether the one or more characteristics of the inserted cable comply with the work order.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for connectors with insertion counters are provided. In one embodiment, a connector comprises: an interface configured to interface with a corresponding interface of a port to communicate signals between the port and a cable attached to the connector; at least one switch configured to change from a first state to a second state when the connector is inserted into the port; and a microcontroller configured to record insertion events, wherein the microcontroller increments an insertion count stored within the microcontroller when the at least one switch transitions from the first state to the second state.

Abstract:
A pluggable active optical module (AOM) having an electrical connector at a first end and one or more optical adapters at a second end is disclosed. The AOM includes a storage device interface at the second end, and a programmable processor coupled to the storage device interface and one or more first contacts of the electrical connector. The programmable processor is configured to access a storage device in one or more optical fibers through the storage device interface and provide physical layer management (PLM) information obtained therefrom to a host device connected to the electrical connector. The AOM also includes a switch coupled between a second contact of the electrical connector and ground, the switch coupled to the programmable processor such that that programmable processor can control the switch to selectively connect a second contact of the electrical connector to ground.
