IN WHICH R1-R4 WHICH MAY BE THE SAME OR DIFFERENT REPRESENT LOWER ALKYL, LOWER ALKENYL, HALOGEN, ARALKYL OR ARYL IN WHICH THE ARYL GROUP MAY BE SUBSTITUTED WITH HYDROXY, LOWER ALKOXY, HALOGEN, NITRO OR TRIFLUOROMETHYL AND IN WHICH ANY TWO ADJACENT GROUPS R MAY TOGETHER WITH 2 ATOMS OF THE IMIDAZOLE RING FORM A 5, 6 OR 7 MEMBERED CARBOCYCLIC OR HETEROCYCLIC RING; AND X REPRESENTS A PHYSIOLOGICALLY ACCEPTABLE ANION. THESE COMPOUNDS HAVE A CURARE LIKE NEUROMUSCULAR BLOCKING ACTION.
