Abstract: Improved aluminum alloy composite sheet consisting of a core in a strain hardenable aluminum base alloy and a cladding in an alloy containing about 1.3 percent zinc, the balance being aluminum of at least 99 percent purity is especially useful as rigid container stock for use in containers featuring scored easy open or tear tab arrangements.

Abstract: An aluminum base alloy containing zinc, copper and magnesium together with manganese and with specially controlled composition limits exhibits very high strength when thermally treated to a condition having high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Improved products of the alloy also exhibit low quench sensitivity and, accordingly, high strength even in very thick sections. A special aging treatment produces the optimum combination of strength and resistance to stress corrosion cracking properties. This invention relates to improved wrought products and to a method of their production.

Abstract: ALUMINUM ALLOY PLATE CONTAINING 4.4 TO 10% MAGNESIUM AND STRAIN HARDENED TO IMPROVE ITS STRENGTH TO A LEVEL OF AT LEAST 40% GREATER THAN THE STRENGTH IN THE ANNEALED STATE IS IMPARTED WITH SUBSTANTIALLY FREEDOM FROM SUSCEPTIBILITY OF EXFOLIATION CORROSION. THE PROCESS INCLUDES ROLLING AT MINIMUM TEMPERATURES OF ABOUT 420* TO 650*F. DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF MAGNESIUM PRESENT, TO PRODUCE THE STRAIN HARDENED PRODUCT AND COOLING AT SPECIALLY CONTROLLED RATES.
