Abstract: In various examples, audio received from a source device is shared from a first wireless earbud to one or more other wireless earbuds. For example, source-device settings are shared by the first wireless earbud with the one or more other wireless earbuds to facilitate synchronization and passive receipt of data transmitted by the source device. Once the wireless earbuds are synchronized, they may check in with one another in a coordinated manner to share packets that were missed when passively listening to the source device.

Abstract: A system and method includes a first device (e.g., a primary wireless earbud) connected to a second device (e.g., a secondary wireless earbud) using a first wireless connection. The first device is also connected to a third device (e.g., a smartphone or smart watch) using a second wireless connection. The second device receives data, such as packets, sent from the third device to the first device by monitoring the second wireless connection. If the second device does not receive a packet, it informs the first device, which sends the packet to the second device.

Abstract: Described are techniques for preventing computing devices associated with a network from interfering with the ability of other computing devices to receive data using the network. To prevent such interference, a single device is used to receive data via the network at a given time. The devices on the network may determine priority levels based on the quantity of data remaining in a buffer or other data storage. A device seeking access to the network to receive additional data may provide a request to the device that is currently using the network to receive data. The device receiving the request may compare the priority levels of each device and cease using the network if the priority level of the requesting device is greater, or continue using the network if the priority level of the requesting device is less than that of the current device that is using the network.

Abstract: A system and method includes a first device (e.g., a primary wireless in-ear device) connected to a second device (e.g., a secondary wireless in-ear device) using a first wireless connection. The first device is also connected to a third device (e.g., a smartphone or smart watch) using a second wireless connection. If the first device and second devices determine signal quality metrics corresponding to the quality of the wireless signal received by each. If the second device reports having a better signal quality, communication with the third device is handed off from the first device to the second device.

Abstract: A system and method includes a first audio-output device (e.g., a primary wireless in-ear device) connected to a second audio-output device (e.g., a secondary wireless in-ear device) using a first wireless connection. The first audio-output device is also connected to a third device (e.g., a smartphone or smart watch) using a second wireless connection. When the first and second audio-output devices exchange roles as primary and secondary, they first disconnect the second wireless connection and establish a third wireless connection between the second device and the third device. The first audio-output device sends packets stored thereon to the second audio-output device; the second audio-output device outputs audio corresponding to these packets before outputting audio corresponding to packets received from the third device.

Abstract: Described are techniques for modifying the data rate used to transmit audio data from a master device to slave devices. After receiving a signal, each slave device requests transmission of one or more packets and reports an individual error rate. A cumulative error rate may also be determined based on the individual error rates and the retransmission requests. If any individual error rate or the cumulative error rate exceeds a maximum threshold, the data rate used to transmit the audio data is decreased. If an individual error rate is less than a minimum threshold, the data rate may be increased. If an error rate exceeds a critical threshold, the data rate may be reduced to a minimum value supported by the devices.

Abstract: Techniques for harmonizing wireless communications performed by a computing device which communicates using varying wireless communication standards are described herein. For instance, a computing device may include multiple chipsets with associated antennas that are configured to perform wireless communications using separate wireless standards which operate at overlapping frequencies. To avoid performance degradation experienced in simultaneous use cases with communications operating at overlapping frequencies, the multiple chipsets may be configured with logic to determine which communications are prioritized when multiple chipsets attempt to communicate simultaneously. The multiple chipsets may be communicatively coupled to coordinate their communications by prioritizing certain types of communications over other types of communications to avoid simultaneous communications in overlapping frequencies. In this way, multiple chipsets that communicate using different standards at overlapping frequencies may avoid performance issues experienced in simultaneous use cases, while performing the communications which are of a highest priority level.

Abstract: A wireless communication device may reduce a receive sensitivity in the face of a high number of interfering communications to improve uplink throughput. In a listen-before-talk scenario, a device detecting a large number of undesired received communications may not transmit uplink data in the face of crowded traffic conditions. To avoid this scenario, if a desired communication link has a sufficiently high RSSI, a device may reduce its receive sensitivity to reduce the number of detected undesired communications while maintaining sufficient quality of the desired communication link. This approach will increase uplink throughput and improve communication performance.
