Abstract: The disclosure provides materials and methods for assessing the presence and level of polyanionic compounds in a sample that inhibit PCR reactions, including assays for the presence, and optionally the amount, of polyvinyl sulfonate, as well as materials and methods for the reduction or removal of such compounds from buffer solutions and from protein solutions using a variety of approaches, including titration-based techniques.
