    Abstract: A processing system including at least one processor of an endpoint device may obtain performance information of a plurality of wireless access networks in a vicinity of the endpoint device and receive a service request from a first process in operation on the endpoint device. The processing system may then select in response to the service request, a first wireless access network of the plurality of wireless access networks for the first process based upon the performance information of the plurality of wireless access networks and establish a communication session for the first process via the first wireless access network.

    Abstract: Facilitating application and/or traffic status aware intelligent carrier aggregation in advanced networks is provided herein. Operations of a method can comprise analyzing a traffic usage parameter of a mobile device and, based on a first determination that the traffic usage parameter consumes more uplink resources than downlink resources, configuring, the mobile device with an uplink carrier aggregation based on a first maximization of the uplink carrier aggregation and, thereafter, configuring the mobile device with an allowable downlink carrier aggregation. Alternatively, based on a second determination that the traffic usage parameter consumes more downlink resources than uplink resources, configuring the mobile device with a downlink carrier aggregation based on a second maximization of the downlink carrier aggregation and, thereafter, configuring the mobile device with an allowable uplink carrier aggregation. The uplink carrier aggregation and the downlink carrier aggregation can be non-static carrier aggregations.

    Abstract: An indicator (e.g., “5G+” or “5G”) displayed on a mobile device is based on whether the mobile device is connected in or (if idle) has the potential of connecting in a high channel bandwidth frequency band (e.g., n77 or mmWave). An accurate indication is displayed when the mobile device is connected, or when idle and the aggregated bandwidth is not directly known, such as when anchored to a lower bandwidth cell. When in idle mode, the mobile device can maintain cell identifiers (“fingerprints”) and determine a location estimated to be within a high bandwidth cell, to thereby determine potential high bandwidth operation (e.g., and display 5G+) when connected. When in the idle mode, the mobile device can evaluate neighbor cells including if within a high channel bandwidth cell's coverage to decide whether to select “5G+” or “5G” for display to indicate the potential high bandwidth operation (or not) when connected.
