Abstract: An example method includes receiving a first signal indicating that a user of a first user endpoint device wishes to engage in a data transfer with a second device over a communication network, estimating at least one metric associated with the data transfer, sending the at least one metric associated with the data transfer to a remote server, and initiating the data transfer with the second device in accordance with a temporarily adjusted throughput that is adjusted by the remote server in response to the at least one metric associated with the data transfer.
