    Abstract: An inserter, system and method for inserting an IOL may include a lumen having an outer wall and an inner wall that includes at least one hollowed portion; a plunger for advancing along the lumen and having a plunger shaft extending into an open proximal end and terminating at a distal plunger end; a reservoir within the lumen between the distal plunger end and the distal insertion tip, having an opening that is misaligned with the at least one hollowed portion prior to advancing of the plunger, and that is aligned with the at least one hollowed portion during advancing of the plunger; and a viscous fluid within the lumen that flows along a bypass formed of the at least one hollowed portion and the opening and into the reservoir, decreasing an inserting displacement force effected at the distal insertion tip from a plunger displacement force applied to said plunger.
