    摘要: A method for increasing the capability of the network to provide intelligent services can be accessed by any flow and allows the flow to install the services specific features to the flow. The present invention allows the software agents to be dynamically loaded into the network component to provide the services desired by the user. The present invention provides a detector in a switch in the network processing the flow that detects the presence of a predetermined control packet in the flow, and upon detection of this control packet, the detector loads a particular software object from a library of objects into the switch or router, which software object is then immediately executed by the switch to process the flow. This enables the user of the switch to request additional service from the switch after the data flow has been initiated, or to modify the flow parameters in a seamless manner.

    摘要: A system and method for transmitting a facsimile or voice transmission by an originating device over a telecommunications network by a selected one of a plurality of qualities of service. A local or first communication path is provided between the originating device and a double dialer and a network or second communication path is provided between the double dialer and a point of presence associated with a plurality of telecommunications networks, wherein each telecommunications network is identified by an indicator corresponding to a quality of service. A modified destination number having a destination telephone number and the indicator corresponding to the selected quality of service incorporated therein is transmitted from either the double dialer or the originating device to the point of presence. The outgoing facsimile is then routed over the local and network paths from the originating device to the point of presence. The point of presence subsequently transmits the facsimile or voice transmission to a destination device associated with the destination phone number over the telecommunications network corresponding to the selected one of the plurality of qualities of service. The system and method applies to the transmission of a facsimile message from a facsimile machine and the transmission of a voice message or real-time communication from a telecommunications handset.

    摘要: A system and method are disclosed for providing an automatic call-back when a calling party encounters a ring-no-answer condition upon calling a called party. An exemplary system includes: a first originating switch node (OSN) coupled to a first originating telephone call location corresponding to a calling party and, a terminating switch node (TSN) coupled to a destination telephone call location corresponding to a called party; a database coupled to the TSN for storing the called party's times of calling activity; a processor coupled to the TSN and to the database for processing the times of calling activity to determine a best time to call (BTTC) the called party (wherein the BTTC comprises a best exact time and/or a window of time) and providing the TSN with the BTTC; a signaling network for routing the BTTC to the OSN; and an adjunct coupled to the OSN for receiving the calling party's automatic call-back request and initiating an automatic call back to the calling party at the BTTC the called party. Upon receiving the automatic call-back request, the adjunct provides the calling party with the BTTC. The adjunct also requests the calling party to enter a time at which the calling party is most likely to be available to receive an automatic call-back and, if the time entered in response to said request is the best exact time or, within the window of time, the adjunct initiates an automatic call-back to said calling party at the time entered.
