摘要： A portable device includes a camera section, a display capable of displaying an image captured by the camera section, a first case having a first surface having the display therein and a second surface opposite to the first surface, a second case that can be positioned over the second surface of the first case, a rotation axis section supporting the second case to the first case rotatably about a rotation axis perpendicular to the first surface of the first case, and an operation section operates at least one of the camera section and the display. The camera section has an optical axis and is capable of capturing an image of an object in an image-capturing direction parallel to the optical axis. The rotation axis section accommodates the camera section so that the optical axis is parallel to the rotation axis, and the image-capturing direction is directed from the first surface of the first case to the second surface of the first case. The operation section is provided at a portion of the first surface of the first case opposite to the image-capturing direction of the rotation axis of the rotation axis section. This portable device can accommodate therein the camera section even if the camera is long in the optical axis direction.

摘要： A backlighting element 13 includes an EL panel for illuminating the back of a display unit 11, to thereby provide a good viewing. A control unit 16 sends an instruction to a backlight driver 14, and intermittently drives the backlighting element 13 at appropriate timings, or temporarily stops the driving of the backlighting element 13 in synchronism with operation timings of a radio processing unit 17. The radio processing unit is adversely affected by noise generated when the backlighting element is operated. A light storage member is provided on the backlighting element 13 or in its vicinity. With provision of the light storage member, the lighting time of the backlighting element is reduced. When the backlighting element is lit off, the user is not put to inconvenience.

摘要： In a fold-up type of portable telephone device, the casing to be opened/closed has liquid crystal display devices on its front and back sides, which causes occurrence of noise. In view of this, in the liquid crystal display device of a portable telephone device, a flexible connection substrate is used to integrally form first and second liquid crystal display parts with a driver circuit shared therebetween. The first liquid crystal display part is connected to the flexible connection substrate to which the second liquid crystal display part is connected. The second liquid crystal display device is formed by adding the flexible connection substrate to the first liquid crystal display part, and both are driven by the driver circuit. Not only an alternative display but also simultaneous displays can be selectively performed.

摘要： An FSK signal receiver includes an amplifier which amplifies a first FSK signal at an adjustable gain. A frequency converter converts an output signal from the amplifier into a second FSK signal having a frequency lower than a frequency of the first FSK signal. A demodulator demodulates the second FSK signal into a baseband signal. A bit-state detector detects a bit state from the baseband signal in response to a threshold. A calculator calculates a number of times of occurrence of a fact that the baseband signal moves across the threshold during a given time. The gain of the amplifier is adjusted in response to the number of times which is calculated by the calculator.
