Preference change analysis processing extracts recorded programs in the most recent period from the recording history, obtains the weight of a word in the recorded program from an index from an EPG, adds the weight of the word to a preference in a period. The preference in programs for a period immediately preceding the most recent period is normalized, and a degree of similarity to the preference in the most recent period is calculated. Preference query generation processing emphasizes (five-fold) the weight of the words contained in the recorded programs in the period (June) and generates a preference query.

A user's preference extraction unit extracts a preference of a user from the data, and notifies a number-of-effective-elements reduction unit of the extracted data. The number-of-effective-elements reduction unit evaluates each element of a vector of retrieval information by using the preference of the user, and reduces the number of effective elements by removing the elements smaller than a certain criteria. Thereafter, a statistic is acquired in the vector space of the vector of the retrieval information, and the cosine normalization is performed on the result that includes a large number of elements, and the normalization in which the variation of the statistic was compensated by the average weight is performed on the result that includes a small number of elements.

With this, since the vehicle acceleration at shifting is estimated and evaluated and based thereon, variation in the transmission torque of the frictional engaging element, etc., is learned, it becomes possible to fully exploit the potential of the frictional engaging element, thereby improving a feel given to the vehicle occupant(s) at shifting.
