摘要:
Bacteria in water 9 exposed outdoors are effectively killed with ultraviolet (UV) light by suppressing post-treatment increase in the bacteria population due to photoreactivation. The apparatus shines UV light on the water 9 to kill bacteria and has UV light emitting diodes (LEDs) 1 that emit UVA light with a primary emission peak of 320 nm-400 nm. The antibacterial action of the UVA light emitted by the UV LEDs 1 prevents proliferation of bacteria in the disinfected water 9 due to photoreactivation.

A method for sterilizing fruits and vegetables includes irradiating a surface of fruits and vegetables with UVA, while the surface of the fruits and vegetables is in contact with chlorine water containing sodium hypochlorite having a chlorine concentration of 5 ppm or more. According to the method for sterilizing fruits and vegetables, the fruits and vegetables can be quite efficiently sterilized by chlorine water having a quite low concentration, that is 5 ppm or more, slightly higher than that of tap water. Further, multiplication of bacteria in the sterilized fruits and vegetables can be effectively prevented, while a residual chlorine concentration in the sterilized fruits and vegetables is significantly reduced.

A method is provided for detecting filter clogging which are able to keep track of the filter clogging with precision and in detail. At least one pressure selected from the group consisting of a pressure Pa in a blood inflow portion (32a), a pressure Pv in a blood outflow portion (32b), a pressure Pf1 in a filtrate inflow portion (32c), and a pressure Pf2 in a filtrate outflow portion (32d) is measured continuously, then a variation (pressure waveform) of the pressure is analyzed, a clogging of a filter (32) is detected using the analyzed result. Thereby a clogging of a filter is detected early. As a result, it is possible to prevent from developing of the filter clogging by controlling a dosage amount of anti-coagulant properly and changing a flow rate of blood. The variation of the pressure wave may be analyzed by subjecting the variable to Fast Fourier Transform.

An object of invention is to display necessary information on a screen and display predicted information obtained by predicting the progression of the necessary information. In a bed-side information system, a body information monitor 11 measures arterial blood pressures of a patient 14. The body information monitor 11 measures systolic arterial blood pressures and diastolic arterial blood pressures, and calculates average values thereof. A Hematocrit monitor 12 calculates Hematocrit, change blood volume rate, and Venous Blood Oxygen Saturation. The body information monitor 11 transmits arterial blood pressure information to a desktop PC 15 and the Hematocrit monitor 12 transmits Hematocrit, change blood volume rate, and Venous Blood Oxygen Saturation to the desktop PC 15. The desktop PC 15 displays arterial blood pressure, Hematocrit, change blood volume rate, and Plasma Refilling Rate on a screen of a display using these information items.

A blood-vessel-shape measuring apparatus that can accurately measures a shape of a section of a blood vessel is provided.A blood-vessel-shape calculating means 62 calculates, based on respective echo signals detected by first and second arrays 26, 28 that are placed on a skin 20 of a brachial portion 14 as a portion of a living being such that each of the first and second arrays 26, 28 is across a brachial artery 18 located under the skin 20, respective positions of respective portions of the arterial wall that are located right below the first and second arrays 26, 28 and correspond to supersonic-wave elements 26n of the first array 26 and supersonic-wave elements 28n of the second array 28, and calculates, based on the respective positions of the respective portions of the arterial wall that correspond to the supersonic-wave elements 26n, 28n, a shape of the brachial artery 18 on an orthogonal section thereof. Thus, even if the brachial artery 18 may run, under the skin 20, in a direction that is not orthogonal to the first or second array 26, 28 or is not parallel to the skin 20, an accurate sectional shape of the brachial artery 18 can be obtained.
