摘要: Content files are managed and tracked in a distributed collaborative computing environment to receive, store, and maintain content descriptor data associated with a distributed content files in a central directory registry. The central directory registry can be accessed by a plurality of remote distributed computing devices via one or more network connections. The remote distributed computing devices create content files using locally hosted software applications. Upon saving the content file to a portable or transient storage device connected to a computing device, content descriptor data comprised of administrative data pertaining to the content file and associated with the content file is created and forwarded to the central directory server.

摘要: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for using an interactive progress indicator bar to graphically display the completion status of a plurality of computer operations, reorder the sequence of predetermined operations before they are completed, and then restart the reordered operations. An interactive progress indicator bar is implemented in a graphical user interface (GUI) and comprises a plurality of progress indicator segments. As computer operations are completed, the details of their completion status are entered into a computer operation log and related to their corresponding progress indicator segments. Concurrently, color attributes are applied to progress indicator segments to graphically indicate the completion status of their associated computer operations. One or more progress indicator segments are selected through a first user gesture to view the completion status details of their corresponding computer operations. To change the order of the predetermined computer operation, a second user gesture is used to move its corresponding progress indicator segment to a target location on the progress indicator bar. Previously completed computer operations that are subsequent to the reordered operation are reversed and computer operations are then restarted, beginning with the reordered computer operation.

摘要: Techniques are disclosed for managing instant messages, including the display of windows for incoming messages, as well as for managing status information for instant messaging users. In one aspect, an instant messaging user defines policy information to programmatically determine a response to an arriving instant message. As an example, the policy may control whether a new window will pop up for a newly-arriving message, and may specify other attributes of the window if desired. In another aspect, an instant messaging user defines attributes pertaining to how his instant messaging status will be presented to others.

摘要: A method for controlling the behavior of a telephone using policies, the method comprising a Policy Creation Program (PCP) and a Behavior Control Program (BCP). The policies comprise telephone behavior instructions and three criteria conditions: location criteria, context criteria, and caller criteria. Each policy is also assigned a policy priority number based on the importance of the policy, which is used to resolve conflicts between the policies. The PCP allows the user to create the policies and stores the policies in a policy table based on the policy priority numbers. The BCP detects an incoming telephone call and determines the location, context, and caller conditions. The BCP compares the location, context, and caller conditions to a plurality of the policies and determines the policy that matches the conditions. The BCP then controls the telephone's behavior according to the telephone behavior instructions in the policy.

摘要: Components in a plurality of administrative domains that are communicatively coupled by a network are automatically managed. Permission to implement a corrective action in a second administrative domain is obtained by a management program in a first administrative domain that does not have existing permission to act in the second administrative domain. Responsive to obtaining the permission, the corrective action is implemented in the second administrative domain under control of the management program in the first administrative domain.

摘要: A flexible data mirroring system and method are adapted for use in a data processing system having first and second data storage devices. Upon receiving notification of a file update to be written to the first data storage device a mirror mode and mirror event associated with the updated file are determined from mirror information that has been provisioned on a per-file, per-directory or per-volume, etc. basis. The file update is mirrored to the second data storage device according to the provisioned mirror mode and mirror event. If the mirror mode is continuous, the mirror operation proceeds immediately. If the mirror mode is discrete, the file update is noted and the mirror operation proceeds following occurrence of the file's mirror event.

摘要: Problems are resolved in an application program that runs on an Information Technology (IT) infrastructure that includes IT components. A symptom is generated that identifies a problem in the application program. Selected IT components in the IT infrastructure that may cause the problem in the application program are identified, based on the symptom. Status of the selected IT components is obtained by obtaining a respective situation for a respective IT component. The respective situation is one of a set of component-independent predefined situation categories that is associated with a respective selected IT component. The respective situations provide the status of the selected IT components in a common situation format that includes the associated one of the component-independent predefined situation categories. The respective situations that are obtained are analyzed to identify at least one problem in the selected IT components that may cause the problem in the application program.

摘要: A method, system, and computer code for administrating a data mirroring relationship between a first node and a second node. The invention includes an event coordinator configured to receive a notification from the first node when an event that may potentially affect the mirroring relationship has occurred, and to perform a predetermined task in response to the notification. The predetermined task may include logging the event that occurred at the first node, notifying the second node that the event occurred at the first node, and notifying a system administrator that the event occurred at the first node.
