摘要： An instrument is provided for reduction of a rod or other elongated member into an implant, such as a bone screw. In one embodiment, such an instrument includes a rod adjusting assembly pivotably attached to an implant holding assembly. The implant holding assembly can be pivotably connected to an implant, and the rod adjusting assembly is operable to move a rod toward or away from the implant holding assembly. In that embodiment, several motions are possible by the instrument so that relatively small or large movements of a rod with respect to an implant may be made.

摘要： A connecting device is provided for use in orthopedic surgery, for example to connect a spinal rod and a vertebral screw or hook. The connector generally includes a receiver member for receiving an elongated member, and a grommet member for receiving a bone fixation member. The grommet member is inserted into the receiver member so that the receiver member and grommet member are rotatably connected. One or more disks may be placed between the receiver member and grommet member to assist in locking the device.

The implant cavity is rotatable about a third axis disposed transverse to the second axis such that an implant disposed in the implant cavity and lateral to the first end is rotatable in a first plane relative to the first end in a configuration for selective fixation with the first end. Methods of use are disclosed.

摘要： A connector apparatus is discussed for linking orthopedic elongated members, the apparatus having a connector body defining a first channel configured to receive a first elongate member and a second channel configured to receive a second elongate member. The channels are each defined by an inner contact surface configured to engage the corresponding elongate member. The first channel is U-shaped and opens at a top surface of the body. Additionally, the first channel includes an inner threaded portion configured to receive a first threaded retaining member to secure the first elongate member in the first channel. The second channel opens at a side surface of the body. Preferably, the channels open in substantially perpendicular directions. Additionally, the connector body defines a threaded through-hole, in communication with the second channel, configured to receive a second threaded retaining member to secure the second elongate member in the second channel.

The elongate member is offset to one side of and transversely oriented to the implant. The coupling body includes a first passage for receiving the implant and a second passage for receiving the elongate member and a clamping member positioned about the elongate member. The coupling assembly also includes an engaging member that engages the coupling body and contacts the clamping member to clampingly engage the elongate member with the clamping member while manipulating the coupling body positioned about the implant to engage the coupling body to the implant.
