    摘要： Apparatus and methods are provided for effecting remote commerce, such as in telemarketing (either inbound or outbound) and in electronic commerce, which are particularly adapted for the intelligent selection and proffer of products, services or information to a user or customer. In one aspect of the invention, goods, service or information are provided to the user via electronic communication, such as through a telephone, videophone or other computer link, as determined by the steps of first, establishing communication via the electronic communications device between the user and the system to effect a primary transaction or primary interaction, second, obtaining data with respect to the primary transaction or primary interaction, including at least in part a determination of the identity of the user or prospective customer, third, obtaining at least a second data element relating to the user, fourth, utilizing the primary transaction or primary interaction data along with the at least second data element as factors in determining at least one good, service or item of information for prospective upsell to the user or prospective customer, and offering the item to the prospective customer. In the preferred embodiment, the selection of the proffer of goods, services or information comprises an upsell with respect to the primary transaction or primary interaction data. The offer of the upsell is preferably generated and offered in real time, that is, during the course of the communication initiated with the primary transaction or primary interaction.

    摘要： Embodiments of a device and method for connecting a bone fastener, for example a spinal screw, to an elongated member are disclosed. In one embodiment, a body having channels to receive the fastener and elongated member is tapered and has an aperture for a locking member. A tapered washer slides over the body. The tapered washer has an inner diameter that is smaller than part of the tapered portion of the body allowing it to engage the body. The fastener passes through the body and engages the washer. An offsetting member slides over the body. The body slides over the elongated member and the offsetting member offsets the elongated member from the spinal fastener and contacts each in two differing locations. A locking member is inserted into a threaded aperture in the body to apply a compressive force that compresses all of the members preventing relative motion of the components.

    摘要： A tube dryer system is used to remove moisture from solid commercial products. The present apparatus includes a condensate vessel that separates condensed steam from excess steam. The excess steam is passed through a thermocompressor and combined with incoming fresh steam to produce a combined steam feed stream having a higher flow rate at only slightly reduced pressure and reduced superheat content, resulting in increased dryer capacity and reduced steam losses with no increase in energy costs.

    摘要： An apparatus for transporting and wrapping pipe insulation comprising a frame and a pair of arms mounted on the frame for swinging movement about a longitudinal axis. A row of longitudinally spaced vacuum pads is suspended and on each arm a pair of transversly spaced rows of longitudinally spaced vacuum pads are suspended on the arms inwardly of the first-mentioned rows on said arms. Vacuum can be selectively supplied to the rows of vacuum pads. Means are provided for swinging the arms toward and away from one another whereby when the arms are extended and the vacuum pads are brought into engagement with a generally flat piece of insulation, the insulation is engaged and may be lifted and transported by manipulating the frame to bring the insulation adjacent a length of pipe and the arms may thereafter be swung inwardly to wrap the insulation about the length of pipe. Provision is made for rotating the insulation relative to the pipe to make the ends of the insulation panel more readily avaiable to form a seam.
