摘要： There is provided a video encoder, video decoder and corresponding encoding and decoding methods for respectively encoding and decoding video signal data for an image slice. The video encoder includes a slice prediction residual downsampler for downsampling a prediction residual of at least a portion of the image slice prior to transformation and quantization of the prediction residual. The video decoder includes a prediction residual upsampler for upsampling a prediction residual of the image slice.

摘要： Using different error concealment techniques for coded pictures that undergo display and those that undergo storage as a reference picture improves the quality of error concealment. A concealment technique optimized for use in real time will provide the best visual quality for pictures that undergo display whereas a concealment technique optimized to recover lost data improves the quality of stored reference pictures.

摘要： A decoder (10) conceals errors in a coded image comprised of a stream of macroblocks by examining each macroblock for pixel errors. If such errors exist, then each of at least two macroblocks pictures from each of two different pictures are weighted to yield a weighted prediction (WP) for estimating missing/corrupt values to conceal the macroblock found to have pixel errors.
