Abstract:
A nicotine e-vaping device may include a nicotine pod assembly and a device body. The nicotine pod assembly has upstream and downstream ends and is configured to hold a nicotine pre-vapor formulation. The upstream end may define at least one upstream recess, and the downstream end may define at least one downstream recess. The device body defines a through hole configured to receive the nicotine pod assembly. The through hole includes an upstream sidewall and a downstream sidewall. The upstream sidewall may include at least one upstream protrusion, and the downstream sidewall may include at least one downstream protrusion. The at least one upstream protrusion and the at least one downstream protrusion may be configured to engage with the at least one upstream recess and the at least one downstream recess, respectively, so as to retain the nicotine pod assembly within the through hole of the device body.
Abstract:
A method of forming a post of a cartridge of an electronic vaping device includes cutting a blank from a sheet of metal, drawing the blank to a desired diameter and length to form an elongate body, reverse drawing a portion of the elongate body to form a first end having an opening therein, the first end being generally cylindrical and having a generally beveled edge at an edge thereof, forming a bulged portion between the first end and a second end of the elongate body, and forming a flared section at the second end.

Abstract:
A connector assembly of a cartridge of an electronic vaping device may be formed by metal in-molding. The connector assembly may include a connector body that is integrally formed. The connector body may include a base portion that is generally cylindrical, a nose portion extending from a first end of the base portion, and at least two slots extending longitudinally through the base portion and on opposing sides of the nose portion. An electrical lead extends through each of the at least two slots.
Abstract:
A non-nicotine pod assembly for a non-nicotine e-vaping device may include a pod body and a connector module. The pod body has an upstream end and a downstream end and is configured to hold a non-nicotine pre-vapor formulation. The upstream end of the pod body defines a cavity. The connector module is configured to be seated within the cavity of the pod body. The connector module may include an external face and a side face. The external face of the connector module includes at least one electrical contact and defines a pod inlet. The side face of the connector module defines at least one module inlet. The side face of the connector module faces a sidewall of the cavity in the pod body when the connector module is seated within the cavity.
Abstract:
An apparatus for assembling a heater assembly for a nicotine pod assembly includes a base, a wick feed, a slide, and a holder. The wick feed extends toward the base and defines a channel configured to receive a wick structured to draw a nicotine pre-vapor formulation via capillary action. The slide is configured to move along a plane on a top face of the base. The holder is disposed on the top face of the base.

Abstract:
An e-vapor device may include a vaporizer assembly that is detachably coupled to a battery assembly via a connector. The connector may include a male connecting portion and a female connecting portion. The male connecting portion may include mating arms extending from a rim of the male connecting portion. The female connecting portion may include an inner surface and lugs on the inner surface. The mating arms of the male connecting portion are configured to engage the lugs of the female connecting portion so as to electrically couple the vaporizer assembly and the battery assembly. A knurled pattern may also be provided on an outer surface of the male connecting portion and/or female connecting portion so as to conformally interface with a reversed pattern on an inner surface of the vaporizer assembly and/or the battery assembly.
Abstract:
A non-nicotine pod assembly for a non-nicotine e-vaping device may include a first section and a second section connected to the first section. The first section may define a pod outlet and be configured to hold a non-nicotine pre-vapor formulation. The second section may define a pod inlet and be configured to heat the non-nicotine pre-vapor formulation. The pod inlet is in fluidic communication with the pod outlet via a flow path. The flow path may include a first diverged portion, a second diverged portion, and a converged portion. A non-nicotine e-vaping device may include a device body defining a through hole configured to receive the non-nicotine pod assembly such that a pod inlet for the air flow is exposed when the non-nicotine pod assembly is seated within the through hole.
