Abstract: Systems and methods for presenting a user interface in a first mode and a second mode based on detection of a touch gesture is described herein. In some embodiments, a first user interface may be presented on an electronic device's display. The first user interface may include a list of items, which may be formatted such that they are optimally viewable from a first distance away from the display. In response to detecting a touch gesture, such as a scrolling gesture, a second user interface may be presented including the list of items, which may be formatted such that they are optimally viewed from a second distance. For example, the first user interface may be optimally viewable from a distance of approximately seven to ten feet from the display. As another example, the second user interface may optimally viewable from a distance of approximately one to three feet.

Abstract: Approaches are described for managing content via an electronic device. In particular, various embodiments enable single-handed approaches to adjusting content provided by a computing device. For example, the computing device (e.g., a mobile phone) or other portable computing device can detect a touch-based gesture input (e.g., a tap and hold) on a display screen to activate a content control mode (e.g., a zoom control mode, a panning control mode, a volume control mode). As the device is moved relative to user of the device or some other reference point, the device can cause a zooming, panning, or audio function to be executed. In this way, as the user holds the device and tilts, rotates, or otherwise changes the orientation of the device, or as the user's relative position or orientation changes with respect to the device, the content can appear to be zoomed-in or zoomed-out on, panned, or otherwise adjusted based at least in part on the function executed.

Abstract: Described are systems, methods, and apparatus that enable constraint based communications between two or more devices. For example, a first user of a first device may submit a communication request to establish a communication session with a second user and provide a constraint for that communication session, such as a time-limit (e.g., limit the communication session to five minutes). In such an example, if the second user accepts the communication request with the constraint, a communication session is established and the system monitors the communication session to determine when a condition corresponding to the constraint has been satisfied. When the condition is satisfied, the communication session is terminated by the system.

Abstract: A computing device can utilize a recognition mode wherein an interface utilizes graphical elements, such as virtual fireflies or other such elements, to indicate objects that are recognized or identified. As objects are recognized, fireflies perform one or more specified actions to indicate recognition. A ribbon or other user-selectable icon is displayed indicates a specific action that the device can perform with respect to the respective object. As additional objects are recognized, additional ribbons are created and older ribbons can be moved off screen and stored for subsequent retrieval or search. The fireflies disperse when the objects are no longer represented in captured sensor data, and can be animated to move towards representations of new objects as features of those objects are identified as potential object features, in order to communicate a level of recognition for a current scene or environment.
