摘要: The field of the present invention relates, in general, to apparatus and methods of knitting a material into a tubular form, where the length of such tubular form is not dictated by conventional distances between the knitting areas and the catch basins of integrated machines. In short, this invention increases the distal relationship between the needle-equipped element, which performs the knitting function, and the basin that catches the resulting tubular form of the material. The basin rotates synchronized with the rotation of the resulting tubular form. The separation facilitates the continuous production of a length of the resulting tubular form of the material. The tubular form thus can be longer than such length where, as taught in the prior art, the catch basin is fixed—as part of integrated machines—in close proximity with the element that performs the knitting. As an inventive method, the steps include (A) feeding such material into the proximity of a needle-equipped element; (B) knitting such material with such needle-equipped element to produce such resulting tubular form; (C) catching such resulting tubular form in a basin that is physically disconnected from the needle-equipped element and distanced therefrom to produce a desirably longer length of the resulting tubular form; and (D) electronically controlling such feeding step, such knitting step, and such catching step (synchronizing the catching with the rotation of resulting tubular form), whereby the rates of the feeding, knitting and catching produce such resulting tubular form that is unbuckled.

摘要: This invention is an apparatus that can be intermittently bottom moored and moved with buoyancy as it uses its sensors to collect data in deep ocean water. In one embodiment of the invention, the apparatus includes one or more floats, buoyancy engines, payload sensors, depth sensors and electronics. The electronics provide the power and, among other things, control the transmission of data from and the reception of information by the apparatus. An anchor is used to moor the apparatus at desired locations. When not moored, the apparatus drifts with the currents at the depth at which the apparatus is then positioned, with the movement being directed by current flow of the water. The movement of the apparatus is guided with knowledge of the currents and tides (it is not random).

摘要: A decorative column comprising a rigid center post, a plurality of pre-cast pieces with each piece having a hole extending therethrough so the pre-cast piece slides onto the center post and remains in place on the center post. Each pre-cast piece being stacked upon another pre-cast piece, the pre-cast pieces being of a predefined shape, and a compressible center core liner filling a portion of the hole of the pre-cast piece. The compressible center core including a cutout shape consistent with the cross sectional shape of the rigid center post thereby allowing passage of the center post through the compressible center core.

摘要: An assembly for use in fixing a first component of a joint prosthesis, having a bone facing surface and an exposed surface which faces towards a second component of the joint prosthesis when implanted on a patient's bone. The assembly includes a skirt which can be temporarily fixed to the edge of the first component extending along the edge thereof from a remote portion of the edge to an accessible portion of the edge. The skirt provides at least one opening through which cement located between the bone facing surface of the component and the surface of the bone can be displaced. The opening is located so that cement is prevented from being displaced at the remote portion of the edge and is instead displaced at the accessible portion of the edge.

摘要: An articulated step system for an automotive vehicle includes a step housing attached to the vehicle frame by means of at least one standoff bracket and a tension strut extending generally downwardly from a first end attached to a vehicle body to a second end attached to the step housing. The articulated step has a stowed position generally underlying the body, and a deployed position extending generally outwardly from the body. Movement of the step may be either translational or rotational with respect to the step housing. In one embodiment, the step extends for the full length of the cab of the vehicle, and partially under a load carrying body at the rear of the vehicle.
