摘要: A control indication assembly. A first control mounted on a surface of a computer is coupled to a first sensor, to a first sensing circuit to send an electrical signal to the first control when a user-touch occurs to the first sensor, and to a first indicator to indicate an occurrence of said user-touch. A second control mounted on a surface of a display which is coupled to the computer is coupled to a second sensor, to a second sensing circuit to send an electrical signal to said second control when said user-touch occurs to the display, and to a second indicator to indicate an occurrence of the user-touch. The first and second control are configured such that the first and second indicator are synchronized to exhibit identical behaviors when the user-touch occurs to either the first control or the second control.

摘要: A calibration circuit and method for a proximity/touch detector allow automatic calibration to the proximity/touch detector components, chassis affects, and ambient conditions such that initial factory calibration and periodic manual calibration are not needed. The calibration circuit switches a capacitance into the input capacitance of a Schmitt trigger free running oscillator to change the output frequency of the oscillator. A capacitive sensor forms part of the input capacitance. The change in frequency simulates the frequency shift associated with the difference in input capacitance generated when an object, such as a finger, is touching the capacitive sensor and when the capacitive sensor is free from contact with the object.

摘要: An apparatus and method for handling special windows in a display comprises a window manager in an operating system that is called by application programs to create special windows. The window manager embeds static key signals including encoded special window information, such as the coordinates of a window area to be specially processed, into a video RAM. An existing video interface scans the video RAM and transmits display information, including the key signals, to the display. The present invention further comprises a window decoder in the display, that detects the key signals, extracts the encoded special window information, and controls display circuitry performing the desired special processing. The key signal encoding scheme does not create visually discernible display aberrations that could distract the user or interfere with normal window management.

摘要: A system and method for dynamically correcting display characteristics to compensate for non-uniformities is disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, the display screen is divided into logical tiles, and then the initial correction parameters of the characteristics under consideration, namely convergence, brightness, hue, and beamlanding, are measured at the vertices of each tile. The dynamic correction circuitry automatically synchronizes the correction waveforms, which are functions of the locations on the physical display screen, with the control signals of the displayed image. Due to the synchronization, the previously stored initial correction parameters of the characteristics under consideration may be used to dynamically correct for uniformity of these characteristics. The preferred embodiment performs linear vertical and horizontal interpolation on the correction values between the vertices of the tiles.

摘要: A power-up switch circuit in a peripheral device such as a keyboard is coupled to the main processing portion of a computer via an interface bus. The switch circuit together with bias and detection circuitry in the main processing portion allow non-intrusive use of a data communication line of the interface for controlling the supply of power to the main processing portion, without requiring a dedicated power-on wire between the peripheral device and the processing portion. A repeater circuit between the keyboard and the main processing portion causes a second signal to be sent through an upstream portion of the interface bus in response to receiving a first signal through a downstream portion of the bus, while the main processing portion is in low power mode. The repeater is also configured to not affect the interface bus when the main processing portion is in high power mode.
