    摘要: Discrete, substantially spherical microcapsules having a solid polymeric shell and a solid, non-tacky polymeric core, which is grafted to the polymeric shell, are provided. Such microcapsules may be coated onto cellulosic substrates or incorporated into such substrates and subsequently fused to provide cellulosic substrates having a polymeric film bonded thereto and increased strength, respectively. The grafting of the normally nonadherent core material to the shell of the microcapsules provides a means of forming a bond between a normally nonadherent polymer and a cellulosic material. The microcapsules may be effectively employed as load-bearing agents and opacifying agents.

    摘要: Microcapsules are formed in the absence of coacervation by providing an oil-in-water emulsion containing a polymeric, emulsifying agent having cross-linkable groups or complexing sites and admixing with the emulsion a cross-linking agent or a complexing agent which forms an impermeable coating around the dispersed oil droplets. The emulsifying agent may be non-proteinaceous or the protein, gelatin. Impermeable capsule walls are formed solely by the addition of the cross-linking or complexing agent and extraneous hardening agents are obviated. Moreover, the emulsifying agent may be a preformed, polymeric, cross-linking agent which eliminates the need for any separate cross-linking agent.

    摘要: Microcapsules containing oily droplets are produced in the absence of coacervation by admixing a partially condensed, formaldehyde condensation product in an aqueous medium and an oil-in-water emulsion, which emulsion comprises water-immiscible oily material as the disperse phase and an aqueous colloidal solution of an amphiphilic emulsifying agent as the dispersion medium. This single admixing effects the separation of the resin from the aqueous medium and precipitation thereof in solid particle form about a nucleus of the oily material, and the resulting microcapsules have a high degree of structural integrity.
