摘要: A retainer for non-rotatably retaining a conduit member that extends through an opening in a casing wall. The retainer has an annular top wall that includes an inner periphery having inwardly extending projections to engage the outer surface of the conduit member. Additionally, the retainer includes a depending skirt that extends from the outer periphery of the top wall. A pair of outwardly extending straps extend from the skirt and include bolt holes for enabling the retainer to be bolted relative to the casing wall. The retainer limits axial outward movement of the conduit member and also diffuses and deflects any leakage air that passes around the conduit member to avoid impingement of the leakage air against the structural components and accessories that are positioned outside the engine casing.

摘要: A die for reducing the formation of flash on parts includes a first die section and a second die section defining therein a cavity. The first die section includes a pair of first surfaces and the second die section includes a pair of second surfaces which together define a pair of parting lines which extend from opposite sides of the cavity. Desirably, the first die section includes a pair of lands, each extending along the length of one of the parting lines. Each land defines a first surface portion of the first surface and is sized and configured so that the land is elastically loaded, e.g., substantially equal to and less than the elastic limit of the material forming land when forming a part. In another embodiment, a die for reducing the formation of flash includes a land sized and configured so that when a first die section and a second die section are clamped together for forming the part, a second surface portion of the first surface of the first die section engages a second surface of the second die and the stress on the first surface portion is substantially equal to and less than an elastic limit of the land. In a third embodiment, a die includes a first die section and a second die section having a first surface and a second surface, respectively, which together define a parting line having at least one bend for controlling the formation of flash. Methods for forming such dies and methods for forming parts having reduced or controlled formation of flash are also disclosed.

摘要: An exemplary method of designing a manufacturing process comprises the steps of representing a workpiece as a plurality of triangular finite elements, representing the forming tools with mathematical equations which typically include cubic polynomials, simulating a deformation of the workpiece by the forming tools with a finite element model, wherein the finite element model is integrated with explicit integration. The method may be carried out with an apparatus which includes a memory device which stores a program including computer readable instructions, and a processor which executes the instructions. After the deformation of the workpiece has been simulated by the finite element model, the characteristics of the workpiece and forming tools can be modified to improve the final shape of the workpiece. After the finite element simulation produces an acceptable final workpiece shape, an actual workpiece can be formed with actual tools based on the simulation.

摘要: A reinforced motor for reducing amplitude of operational vibrations includes a stator having an open end, a rotor disposed through and centrally of the stator and having at least one end, an end shield mounted to the open end of the stator and having an outer surface and rotatably supporting the rotor at the one end thereof, and an elongated stiffening member attached to or formed on the outer surface of the end shield so as to increase stiffness and reduce bending of the end shield and thereby reduce amplitude of operational vibrations produced by rotation of the rotor relative to the stator. A peripheral portion of the end shield forms an opening for receiving a switch housing. The stiffening member is attached on the outer surface of the end shield adjacent to the switch housing opening.
