Abstract:
A User Equipment (UE) device and associated method for operating a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The UE may store a preferred roaming list in a memory. The preferred roaming list may comprise a plurality of system records which specify radio access technologies that can be used by the UE. The UE may examine the preferred roaming list to delete any duplicate system records in the PRL for respective geographic locations (GEOs). This may operate to mitigate the problems created by duplicate listing of system records within the PRL. In particular, the removal of redundant system records within the PRL may reduce or eliminate unneeded or undesired BSR algorithm execution. In addition, the removal of redundant system records within the PRL may reduce temporal service outages, since no service origination is allowed while the UE is attempting to find the most preferred system.
Abstract:
Communication device may include a transmitter and a receiver respectively coupled to one or more antennas to communicate (e.g., transmit or receive signals) with a base station. The communication device may receive an operating characteristic of a cellular modem within the communication device operating in a first cellular configuration and determine if the operating characteristic are greater than a threshold. The operating characteristic may include power and/or temperature. The threshold may include a power budget and/or a temperature threshold. If the operating characteristic is greater than the threshold, then the communication device may determine a control effort value based on the operating characteristic and the threshold. The communication device may map the control effort value to a second cellular configuration, which may correspond to reduced operating characteristics in comparison to the first cellular configuration. The communication device may then cause the cellular modem to operate in the second cellular configuration.
Abstract:
Determining whether to operate in a single radio access technology (RAT) mode or a dual RAT mode for a user equipment (UE) having a radio capable of communicating using at least a first RAT and a second RAT. The UE may determine whether current path loss for the first RAT exceeds a maximum path loss. Based on the results of determining whether the current path loss for the first RAT exceeds the maximum path loss, the UE may determine whether to operate in the single RAT mode or the dual RAT mode. Accordingly, based on this determination, the UE may operate in the single RAT mode or the dual RAT mode based on the determination.
