摘要： Emergency shutoff valve apparatus, including a gate valve assembly actuated to a closed position by fluid pressure acting on an actuator piston, such actuation causing the piston to exert a force through a liquid medium on a power piston to store energy in a spring device or other energy storing means. Relieving of the fluid pressure acting on the piston causes the energy storing means to act through the power piston and liquid medium to shift the actuator piston to a position closing the gate valve assembly. The gate valve assembly can also be shifted to a closed position by supplemental fluid pressure acting on the power piston or on an override piston.

摘要： A pipe connector has a pin initially stabbed into a box, the pin and box then being axially loaded together at confronting transverse surfaces while the pin and box are pressurized to expand the box and compress the pin, so that when the pressure is relieved a pressure energized shrink fit is provided and the connector is rendered rigid to enhance tensile, compressive and bending strength and provide a fluid tight joint useful in making up lengths of pipe such as piles and pipelines. Lock means hold the connector against axial separation to maintain the pin under axial compression and maintain the box under axial tension, including circumferentially spaced locking elements projecting radially from one of said pin and box into a locking recess of the other of said pin and box.

摘要： Running apparatus is releasably connected to a packing assembly, the combination being lowered on a tubular running string until the packing assembly is disposed between a hanger body and a surrounding wellhead underlying a body of water. The apparatus is responsive to weight to effect setting of the packing in the annular space between the hanger body and wellhead. Test pressure is applied to the packing and more firmly sets it. The apparatus is rotated relative to the packing to shift a locking nut to lock the packing in place, the apparatus then being retrieved to the drilling rig at the water surface.

摘要： A packoff assembly for sealing the annulus between the outside surface of a tubing hanger and the internal bore of a subsea wellhead includes a packoff sleeve insertable in the annulus and a seal assembly on its lower end. A release sleeve is disposed around the upper end of the packoff sleeve and is axially movable with respect thereto. An internal shoulder on the packoff sleeve receives a lock ring on the tubing hanger when the seal assembly is set to lock the packoff assembly to the tubing hanger. Circumferentially spaced apart dogs on the packoff sleeve and radially slidable on the shoulder are forced inwardly by the release sleeve when it is pulled up to retract the lock ring from the shoulder and release the packoff assembly from the tubing hanger. A running tool for running the tubing hanger and packoff assembly into the well and setting the packoff includes telescoping upper and lower body members. A surrounding sleeve is disposed around the lower body member and includes a piston surface for actuating the surrounding sleeve downwardly to set the seal assembly. Releasably latches are carried between the surrounding sleeve and the lower body member for attaching to the packoff assembly and tubing hanger. A hydraulic indicator detects sufficient downward movement of the upper body member to set the seal assembly. Emergency release means are provided to release the running tool from the tubing hanger in the event of hydraulic system failure.

摘要： A misalignment connector for large pipelines, conductor pipes or the like, includes an internal, metal seal ring having an external spherical periphery which is axially and circumferentially loaded between opposed internal spherical surfaces of connector structures which are operable by hydraulic piston and cylinder means to be interconnected over a range of angular misalignment. The internal sealing ring is preloaded when the connector parts are secured together. Initially, the internal sealing ring is supported in or nearly in engagement with one of the companion spherical surfaces of the connector parts for proper engagement and angular motion upon the interconnection of the connector parts over the permissible angular range of misalignment. The connector is made up by the application of fluid pressure to the actuator cylinder and piston means after the connector parts have been stabbed together. Radially shiftable locking elements are wedged towards one another by the action of the actuator cylinders. In some forms, the locking elements themselves have spherical surfaces engageable with a spherical surface of a connector hub. In another form, the locking member acts against a ring to urge the ring by camming means therebetween to force a spherical surface of the locking ring into engagement with the spherical surface of the hub.

A surrounding sleeve is disposed around the lower body member and includes a piston surface for actuating the surrounding sleeve downwardly to set the seal assembly. Releasable latches are carried between the surrounding sleeve and the lower body member for attaching to the packoff assembly and tubing hanger. A hydraulic indicator detects sufficient downward movement of the upper body member to set the seal assembly. Emergency release a shuttle valve connected to a line in the hydraulic system to release the running tool from the tubing hanger in the event of hydraulic system failure.

摘要： A hydraulic connection apparatus for use by divers or an underwater vehicle is disclosed which allows pressurized hydraulic fluid to be supplied to hydraulically-actuated devices carried upon subsea equipment. A pressurized fluid source carried by the underwater vehicle is placed in fluid communication with the hydraulically-actuated devices by the connection apparatus. The connection apparatus comprises a buoyant device that is allowed to float upwardly into a receptacle carried by a portion of the subsea equipment. Co-operating hydraulic connection elements carried by the buoyant device and the receptacle provide a pressure tight seal between the device and the receptacle. Pressurized hydraulic fluid then flows from the buoyant device and through the receptacle to the hydraulically-actuated devices carried upon the subsea equipment.

The coengaged and loaded sleeve shoulder and ring and coengaged pin and box structure surfaces transmit axial forces through the connector and resist bending. The connector is useful as a conductor pipe or pile connector.
