    摘要: Structures with inter-connecting members such as shores, struts, braces and the like which are subject to compression and/or tension stresses can be erected even when the foundation strata do not exactly meet anticipated levels, or when differential settlements occur at base points after loads are applied. At least one of the structural members is in the form of a first elongate section having a hollow mating end, and a second elongate section including a hollow bell-shaped end. The mating end of the first section is slidably received in the bell-shaped end of the second section, and the first and second sections are allowed to slide axially of one another at least during erection of the structure. At a desired time after erection, relative sliding movement between the first and second sections is prevented, thus fixing the length of the structural member.

    摘要: A reinforced concrete threaded pile provides a generally conically shaped tapered concrete pile member which is provided with a metallic reinforcement core for carrying the torsional and tensile forces created in the pile during its insertion. A metallic head is provided at, for example, the upper portion of the pile, which provides a point for the connection of a sufficient torsional driving force thereto for insertion of the pile. The head member can be metallic, and is substantially integrally connected to the reinforcement core, so that the torsional forces can be developed through the head and the reinforcement core such that torsional and tensile forces are not carried by the concrete to a degree which would cause a failure of the concrete by cracking. The concrete body is provided with an outer surface of spiral threads which has a relatively minor thread pitch that provides for relatively easy insertion of the pile into the desired soil medium and is mechanically compatible therewith. If desired, reinforcement can be provided in the threads. The threads are equally spaced, and a female "soil socket" is formed upon insertion of the pile into the earth, the spiral tapered pile gradually expanding and compacting the surrounding soil as the equally spaced threads push the pile downward.

    摘要: A precast modular piling system of square-sectioned reinforced concrete sections of standard interchangable lengths are capable of being connected by a joint constituted by a steel jointing piece appearing at either end of the pile sections for purposes of enabling any length of pile to be constructed. Each jointing piece includes a shaped plate secured to the end of a pile section with a framing sleeve extending laterally from each plate. A recess extends inwardly from each corner of the jointing piece through the plate, adjacent parts of the framing sleeve and concrete of the pile section. The recesses are so dimensioned and shaped to receive an end of a substantially I-shaped locking pin which serves to join a driven pile section to a driving pile section upon placement of the respective facing plates in bearing relationship with one another. The abutting surfaces of the and the facing plates are planar to optimize surface-to-surface contact between these parts. The proper location of the locking pins during pile driving and subsequent thereto is maintained by distorting the plates with a hammer or appropriate tool at the shank portion of each recess to prevent the pins from retracting. The spacing between the locking pins and reinforcement bars appearing in the concrete sections at each corner thereof are held to an absolute minimum to assure proper performance of the joint in transmitting loads and stresses during the driving operation and demands of structural support.
