Abstract:
Systems, methods and articles of manufacture for retransmission of data in streaming protocols are described herein. Embodiments enable efficient retransmission of dropped packet data in guaranteed delivery or request-response data transfer protocols such as TCP. In particular, embodiments provide efficient retransmission of dropped packet data based on the short and/or long term historical reliability of the underlying client connection. An embodiment includes maintaining, for one or more clients in a client-server architecture, data representing connection characteristics for one or more client-server connections. Based on collected short-term and long-term client connection characteristics, an efficient data packet retransmission scheme is determined to optimize use of the connection for retransmitting dropped packet data.
Abstract:
A method and system for improving access to network content are described. Aspects of the disclosure minimize the delay between a navigation event and a network response by prerendering the next navigation event. For example, the method and system may predict a likely next uniform resource locator during web browsing to preemptively request content from the network before the user selects the corresponding link on a web page. The methods and systems describe a variety of manners for prerendering content and managing and configuring prerendering operations.
Abstract:
A method and system for predicting a next navigation event are described. Aspects of the disclosure minimize the delay between a navigation event and a network response by predicting the next navigation event. The system and method may then prerender content associated with the next navigation event. For example, the method and system may predict a likely next uniform resource locator during web browsing to preemptively request content from the network before the user selects the corresponding link on a web page. The methods describe a variety of manners of predicting the next navigation event, including examining individual and aggregate historical data, text entry prediction, and cursor input monitoring.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for developing localized markets using business transactions conducted over a data network having a plurality of servers features creating a data connection with one of the plurality of servers from a client terminal. A search query is transmitted to the one of the plurality of servers. The search query requests product information to be transmitted between the server and the client identifying products satisfying a criterion of the search query. Determined is whether the one of the plurality of servers includes the information. An identity of a second server from the remaining servers of the plurality of servers that includes the product information by examining a UDDI repository table located on the one of the plurality of servers, in response to determining the product information is absent from the one of the plurality of servers. A message is sent to the client terminal with results from the product information.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including medium-encoded computer program products, for decreasing latency perceived by a user in retrieving data from a data server. A user-initiated interaction with a user interface can be detected and a user-generated request to retrieve data automatically predicted, based at least in part on the user-initiated interaction. Resolution of a domain name into a network address can be initiated, based on the predicted user-generated request to retrieve data, prior to receiving a user-initiated submission of the user-generated request to retrieve data. In certain instances, a network communication synchronization sequence with a data server associated with the predicted user-generated request to retrieve data can be initiated prior to receiving a user-initiated submission of the user-generated request to retrieve data.
Abstract:
In a network that conveys requests from clients to servers and responses from servers to clients, a network transaction accelerator for accelerating transactions involving data transfer between at least one client and at least one server over a network comprising a client-side engine, a server-side engine and a transaction predictor configured to predict, based on past transactions, which transactions are likely to occur in the future between the client and server. The transaction predictor might be in the server-side engine, the client-side engine, or both. The client-side engine receives indications of requests from the client, a transaction buffer for storing results of predicted transactions received from the server or the server-side engine ahead of receipt of a corresponding request, and a collator for collating the requests from the client with the stored results or received results, wherein a request and a response that are matched by the collator are identified and the matched response is provided to the client in response to the matched request. The server-side engine receives indications of transactions including requests and responses and conveys requests to the server in response to actual transactions or predicted transactions.
Abstract:
A system of reducing the possibility of crawling duplicate document identifiers partitions a plurality of document identifiers into multiple clusters, each cluster having a cluster name and a set of document parameters. The system generates an equivalence rule for each cluster of document identifiers, the rule specifying which document parameters associated with the cluster are content-relevant. Next, the system groups each cluster of document identifiers into one or more equivalence classes in accordance with its associated equivalence rule, each equivalence class including one or more document identifiers that correspond to a document content and having a representative document identifier identifying the document content.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for quantifying and displaying ultrasound signals in an ultrasonic system are provided. A first signal value for each of at least one spatial location in a region of interest is acquired at a first time, and the signal values are summed to obtain a first surface integral value. A second signal value for each of said at least one spatial location in said region of interest is acquired at a second time, and the second signal values are summed to obtain a second surface integral value. The first surface integral value is summed with the second surface integral value to obtain a time based integral. The time based integral is displayed. Other quantities based on any of various ultrasound parameters, such as Doppler energy, Doppler velocity and B-mode intensity, are calculated and displayed as quantities or as waveforms as a function of time. Furthermore, various comparisons of quantities and waveforms are provided. Image plane data or other ultrasound data are used in the calculations. Finally, a histogram data structure is provided to aid calculation of the various quantities.
Abstract:
A system having a resource manager, a plurality of masters, and a plurality of slaves, interconnected by a communications network. To distribute data, a master determined that a destination slave of the plurality slaves requires data. The master then generates a list of slaves from which to transfer the data to the destination slave. The master transmits the list to the resource manager. The resource manager is configured to select a source slave from the list based on available system resources. Once a source is selected by the resource manager, the master receives an instruction from the resource manager to initiate a transfer of the data from the source slave to the destination slave. The master then transmits an instruction to commence the transfer.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to reduction of web page transmission bandwidth by resolving a web page into static and dynamic components. An embodiment includes intercepting a request for a web page, retrieving the requested web page from a server, reading transmission instructions for the web page, the instructions based on an analysis of two or more identified versions of the web page, the analysis having identified one or more static and dynamic components of the web page, extracting the dynamic components of the retrieved web page based on the instructions, and providing the dynamic components of the web page along with one or more references to the static components in response to the request. Another embodiment includes constructing a web page for display using the received dynamic components and static components retrieved from a cache using the one or more references.
