    Abstract: An electrolytic coin cell that has been used to study the growth of lithium dendrites by optical observation is described. The cell makes possible observation of the growth of the dendrites in response to various applied conditions, such as applied electrical signals, chemical effects, and temporal effects in a real coin cell geometry.
