    摘要: An optical module includes first and second fiber units that hold end portions of first and second optical fibers, and first and second collimators disposed between these fiber units and having first and second lenses, respectively. End faces of the first and second optical fibers are disposed on imaginary circumferences on the end faces of the first and second fiber units. Laser light beams from the end face of the first optical fiber are collimated by the first lens and then focused by the second lens, and enter the end face of the second optical fiber that is disposed diametrically opposite to the first optical fiber with respect to the center axis of the optical module.

    摘要: An optical connector ferrule is equipped with a fiber insertion hole composed of an introductory hole, an intermediate hole, and minute holes. The introductory hole has a sectional area, which allows insertion of the coated portions of optical fibers. The intermediate hole has a sectional area which does not allow insertion of the coated portions of the optical fibers but which allows insertion of bare fibers exposed in front of the coated portions. Each of the minute holes has a sectional area, which allows individual insertion of each of the forward end portions of the bare fibers inserted into the intermediate hole. Thus, the insertion length of the optical fibers in the fiber insertion hole is uniquely determined. In particular, the insertion length of the coated portions can be set a predetermined length easily and reliably.

    摘要: An optical ferrule is a molding of a resin composition comprising a base resin, silica, and whisker, as essential components. The resin composition has a melt viscosity of 300 to 600 [Pa×sec.] when measured at a shear rate of 900 [1/sec.] at a temperature of 340° C. by using a capillary having a diameter of 0.1 mm and a depth of 30 mm as defined by JIS-K-7199. Preferably, the base resin is a linear polyphenylene sulfide resin, and 250 to 300 parts by weight of silica and 10 to 70 parts by weight of whisker are blended with 100 parts by weight of the linear polyphenylene sulfide resin.
